My great grandfather was not talk about much, then a distant cousin show me where to find the records. He was a petty thief and was sent to the Indiana Boy's School in Plainfield. I found him there in 1900 Census. Later in his 50's he got drunk and stole a car, he was sent to the State Farm.
My Derry line has a murder which was a sad story. A sister kills her brother after several years of squabbling.

I found my g.grandfather Giovanni, in the 1930 census in Moundsville Prison in WV, for murder.

My Quaker Doan ancestors were considered outlaws in Bucks County, credited with the first US treasury robbery, spying, and horse thieving during the Rev. war.

I think my black sheep would be the Billington family who came over on the Mayflower...they were quite the rowdy's. LOL

My first cousin 8x removed was John Armfield, one of the partners in Franklin and Armfield, one of the most successful slave traders in the 1830's. It's estimated that they were responsible for transporting about 8,000 slaves south and west, into Louisiana through the Natchez Trace. I am not eligible to join the Blacksheep group because he's not a direct ancestor, but he definitely counts as a black sheep relative.

Another relative on that line was Tom Dooley's defense counsel -- as in "Hang down your head Tom Dooley, poor boy you're bound to die." So not such a successful defense there.
