I am a new member to GenealogyWise. I joined as a requirement for an online class I’m taking. Looking forward to learning more about GenealogyWise and how it works.

Have you gone to our database and searched there?  (use the wife's name)

I am interested in the family of William Barton of Posey County Indiana.  I am a descendent of John and Sarah Bradley Barton.

I am going (I am President of BHS) We don't have a mechanism for easily handling your request. I'll try to remember to see what I can do at the meeting - but I'm usually pulled in many directions.

Why don't you take a look at the Barton database at www.bartondatabase.info again - to see who is creditted with researching William Barton and his family. They may be the folks who you want to be working with.

Gary will be happy to work with you on resolving the question of more children.

Beth, can you come to the BHS Annual reunion in Austin next weekend? There should be researchers there who are close to William who may have worked on this specific family

William Barton (son of Thomas of Greenville SC) called the "Daniel Boone of Texas". Well I an sure about that but he was an interesting man with an adventureous family.
Terry, I looked at the Barton Database site. I think I have more children listed for William than you have. Austin's register has William and 2nd wife Stacy listed in 1828 with 2 sons and 3 daughters. and 5 other dependants thought to be slaves. Stacy Pryor is the daughter of William Pryor, a member of the Old 300. Stacy was a sister to my ancestor Elizabeth Pryor Roberts Harry.
I am trying very hard to find descendants of William and Stacy to share the Pryor info I have and to try to prove that Stacy's mother Betsy Trammell Pryor was the sister of Burk Trammell that died at tha Alamo.

The 8 children I have for William.. and not sure which wife. Eliza, Jefferson, Zenobia, Parenthia (b. 1816), Wayne (b. about 1820), William (b. 1823), Aliff (b. 1826) and Willford (b. 1828.). I have found that Aliff died 15 Nov 1846. She was married to John Burleson. Jefferson died in 1839.
Parenthis married Richard Lloyd and they had at least 7 children (lived in Williamson Co) Willford married Virginia Sampson. They had a daughter May born 1855.

One very important question I have concerns another Pryor sister. Harriet Pryor married Noel F Roberts. After his death, she married Edward Kemp. When she died, a girl by the name of Alta Sarah Barton shared her estate equally with Harriet children by her two known husbands. I also found other records earlier and later tying Alta Sarah Barton to Harriet Pryor as her daughter. Is there any record of Harriet Pryor marrying a Barton in or close to Clarke County Alabama. Alta Sarah Barton was born in Alabama in 1824.

We maintain the worldwide Barton database at www.bartondatabase.info If your Bartons are not listed there, we'll add them. We also welcome additions and/or corrections.

We also operate the Barton DNA Project and the Barton One Name Study. Our goal is to identify all Barton families and to understand how they are related (or not). We use paper trails and yDNA testing. If your family is not connected, you can help by providing the records you have and by locating a male Barton relative to yDNA test. Sponsorships are available to pay a portion of the cost for families not previously tested

My Barton line has been giving me fits for years. My earliest Barton is Edward L. BARTON, who married Nannie BENNETT in 1885 in Smith Co, Tennessee. Both were born in Tennessee and their children were born in Kentucky. They were in Louisville, Ky. on the 1910 census. According to family stories, all unconfirmed, Edward's middle name was "Logan"
