Would anyone have a transcript of the 1661 'Petition from Maine except Saco and Scarborough, for Mass. to use force, not merely declarative acts, to protect the inhabitants against a pretended power of Esq. Gorges's commissioners' ? The source I believe is Maine Prov. and Court Records Vol 1. 198-9

I have Hannah Libby b. Abt. 1663 in Scarborough, Cumberland, Maine, USA and d. 1733 in Kittery, York, Maine, USA. She married Daniel Fogg b. 16 Apr 1660, Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire, USA and d. 09 Jun 1755 in Kittery, York, Maine, USA. Hannah's father was John Libby & mother is just listed as Mary ?. I would love to know Mary's surname!

Perhaps this will sound strange to some of you, but here goes: There are some branches that I find especially interesting to trace. My great-aunt's husband's family was a very longtime family in Coastal Maine, the men working as seamen for many generations. His father moved his branch of the family to the Midwest and sounds from histories like he was quite the character, always coming up with a new scheme, many of which seem to have done quite well! For example, he started a tomato processing plant in South Dakota when that was still a fairly new idea. Anyway, they are the Bonseys, most recently of Ellworth, Surrey and nearby towns in Hancock County. I've done some research on some of their allied families as well. Samuel Bonsey, who married Lydia Young, is the Bonsey that left Maine; his father was also named Samuel Bonsey and married Susan Lords. Is anyone else researching in this area and/or these families?

Any Wright researchers in MAine. Jesse WRight whom married Abbey Cook and had Hannah Cook whom married Abraham Young SR. Hannah born 1781 Lewiston, Androscoggin Co. ME. Jesse had brothers Timothy and Joel according to records someone else has done. New Hampshire Birth Records.
Jesse settled here about 1774 on the then known farm of Davis Nevens.

My Maine lines go back to 1731 when James Douglas married Margaret Elliot in York, Maine. We are interested in Sedgwick, Penobscot, Harpswell, Clinton.

Hi everyone,
I live in Tenn. now, so it is difficult to find anything. Never the less, I am searching for any obits or news items, even pictures of gravestones with the names of either Rossignol or Doucet(te). My faily was originally from Van Buren & Grand Isle, but scattered all over Aroostook County. So if anyone should run across these two names, I really would appreciate a note on where to get copies.. My Allen ancestors moved from Massachusetts to Maine (mostly the Bath area, at that time in Lincoln County) around the 1790's, or a little earlier. My ggg-grandfather, Cushing Allen, his brothers Horatio and William, and their sister, Salome all settled there. I need to do more research on Cushing's siblings and their families.

Cushing's wife, Elizabeth Trevette, was born in York in 1775. One of the favorite records I have in hard copy is an old copy of a handwritten "True Copy of Record" written by the Bath town clerk, David Shaw, in 1845. It is a record of the family of Cushing Allen and "Betsey Trivitt his wife". I need to get it scanned and posted one fine day.
