My 2 great-grandmother was Margareth "Margaret" Fischer who was born in Rheinbaier, Bavaria?, Germany, b. calculates as 9 Jan 1823 d. 31 Mar. 1898. She married Joseph Schneider in Columbus, Ohio 10 Nov 1844 and they had five children: Joseph Peter b. 1846, Katharine/Catherine 1847, Anthony 1849/50 d. 1860, Margaret "Mary" b. 1852 and Mary Josephina "Feenie/Feeney b. 1855 Schneider.  Joseph owned an inn (The Washington House/Hotel) and tavern (The Robert Plum/Blum) in Columbus, Franklin Co. Ohio.  His son, my great grandfather, Joseph Peter baked for the inn and tavern and for his troop in the Civil War. He ended up working in a bakery in Marion, Marion Ct., Ohio.

I am descended from Stephen Fischer and Catharine Guenter Fischer from Bayern (Bavaria) who settled in Jasper, Indiana.  I have a good amount of info on this family going back into Bayern and some on descendants of their various children if anyone is interested.

This is quite interesting that the last name of the 2 Johanns was Fischer, with a c & Ann, Michael, and their parents had no c in their last name.

Of course, typos & misspellings in names-including last names-do exist. On one of the jobs I worked at my time card had the name Sparks on it and my paycheck had my real last name of Spart on it. I like the name Sparks and considered getting my name changed to Sparks. Sometimes I get tired of telling everyone how to spell & pronounce my last name.

Another time someone misspelled my last name as Spaart. What a great spelling for someone who's Dutch-which I'm not.

I have a friend whose last name is also Fisher. I went to her family reunion & found out that her father-Doyle-had ancestors in Chilicothe, Ohio, Ohio's capital when it became a state. My friend's mother said her husband has German in him too. I even wondered if any of his kin spelled their name Fischer-it looks like a German name spelled that way.

Doyle and his wife also live in Northern Indiana.

Just found siblings to Ann. They were Johann Zacharias Fischer, Johann Georg Fischer and Michael Fisher. Michael, his wife and his parents are all buried in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Edgerton, OH

My gramma Vogler-whose name was Marjorie Fisher before moving to Mishawaka, Indiana-grew up in Oakwood, Ohio, which my dad said is near Defiance. She married my grandfather, Paul A. Vogler, who was born in Mishawaka. What a coincidence-Grampa Vogler's parents both came from Bavaria!

And I've been told that Gramma Vogler had a combination of German, Irish, Scotch, and English in her. I found out according to Ancestry.com that her father's first name was Lafayette.

My dad told me Gramma had ancestors by the last name of Cunningham.

I will have to copy down the information about Jacob, Barbara, & Ann Fisher and see if I can find out if they're any relation to my grandmother.

My great great grandfather was Jacob A. Fisher. He came with his wife Barbara Houk and his daughter (my great grandmother), Ann Margaret Fisher, to the US from Bavaria in the 1840's. Ann married Theobold Essner in Williams Co., OH in 1853. Not sure if she had any siblings. Does anyone have any info on this family?
