I descend from Gordon Cartwright Jennings, Oldest Alamo Defender.  He is my 3rd Great Grandfather, He and wife Catherine Cynthia Overton Jennings had four children, Abigail, Joseph, Catherine (Katy) and my  2nd great grandfather, and youngest child, Samuel K. I have proven that Burk Trammell who died at the Alamo was brother to my 4th gr-grandmother. I wish that I could correct the list that has Burk Trammell as being 18 yrs old & born in Ireland. His brother, James, was granted land for Burke's death at the Alamo. Austin's registry has Burke was #630 on the list, 26 yrs old from Alabama. His brother, James, was #145 in registry.

William A. Smith was a San Jac veteran. He was born in New York in 1804 and came to Texas in 1831 and settled in Anahuac. He married my great-great-great grandmother by 1844. Her first husband deserted her and their child. Smith was a member of Logan's Company and was originally assigned to the camp at Harrisburg but like several others, joined the battle while it was in progress. He received a share of the spoils as well as bounty and donation land grants. He sold those grants and applied for a 1/3rd of a league closer to home. He was issued 900 acres near East Bay Bayou in present day Chambers County. This land is now part of the Wildlife Refuge. Smith's step-daughter sold this land in 1876. Smith disappeared from the scene after 1850. We don't know exactly when or where he died. Family stories claim he went to the Gold Rush in California in 1850 and died of a fever along the way. His wiodw and daughter remained in Galveston.

W.B. is the one I'm researching. I'm wondering if he was a nephew or other relations to W.H. Harrison.

http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fhaex   ---Peter according to Texas History Online the only 2 proven Harrison defenders at the Alamo was William B. Harrison and John Harrison.

I have two "I'm not sure if we're related" Alamo defenders. William B. Harrison of Ohio. If he is part of William Henry Harrison's line then we have a match. There was the Dr. Harrison of Goliad fame (or infamy) that is in the family tree. And according to W.T. Block  William A. Smith from Liberty may have been part of the Alamo garrison from December to Mid February. The name doesn't seem to match the January muster roll but middle names were often omitted. If any one can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it.

My biological father was a Richards. My great-great grandfather's brother was John Richards. John was among the Texas patriots executed by the Mexican Army at Goliad, just a few days after the fall of the Alamo.
