Sorry, I had no idea they didn't go back that far.

Yes, the problem I have is that the records I need are prior to 1837. I have also discovered that Boughton Monchelsea Church burned down, so it may be that the records were lost, so hoping someone might be able to look at the Bishop's Transcripts for me as I am not close enough to Canterbury just to pop down! If anyone has the CD 22, that covers the right area too.....Failing all else I might just buy it!

As well as researching the KITNEY/KIDNEYfamilies (World Wide) I am also researching HARMAN, SWAN, FRY, SMITH families in Kent. Also other families who married into the KITNEY/KIDNEY families over the last 400 years.

FreeBMD only has records after Sep 1837 when Government registrations commenced

Have you tried on the FreeBMD website, Sarah? http://freebmd.rootsweb.com. It's an index giving you chapter and verse and then you can send to the GRO for the actual certificate.

Just wondering if there is anyone in Kent (or visiting) who might be able to try and locate a birth.christening for me.
William Posse born c 1784 in Boughton Monchelsea, Kent. So far we have been unable to trace his parents, and although I have a hunch I can't prove it!

He married Mary Watson 12th October 1808 in Maidstone.
1841 census they are living in Chart Next Sutton Valence, and he died a year later - 8th September 1842.

If you can help I will be eternally grateful!

Sarah Evans (nee Possee)
