Valerie. You should see this course in the list. It was “Not Scheduled” before, but now says “New” as it has been completed for release. :)

I am taking American and DNA Certificate -40 Courses

Will this new course cover what I will be taking or is this a whole other course that I should take as well?

Hi Cheryl

WOW, fabulous news and I am registered and looking forward to this course as the outline indicates some connection to the use in law enforcement and corrective services areas that I had worked with in my pre retirement life. This news came just after I had selected three elective courses to keep me active learning more and enjoying my life.

Cheers

Brian

Brian: It depends on who is testing. Some just want to see their ethnic percentages and are not interested in tracing their ancestry. Others attempt to track all matches.

I have used DNA matches to confirm my paper research, and I have confirmed a linkage by DNA that I haven't found documents to prove yet. It encourages me that I am on the right track. :)

Don't get discouraged. Your DNA work may help someone else confirm their parentage.

While I like many other students await the final DNA course I would like to hear from those of us who have used DNA matches as a way of discovering more about our ancestry and even finding people you had no knowledge were in some way related to you. Have you had any success? I must admit that my matches have been distant cousin and sadly had either no tree or one with only a few people on the tree.

I still think DNA tests can help but just wondering if my experience is common.

cheers

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for that information. I am sure there are quite a few fellow students who are looking forward to enjoying the final DNA course especially how helpful the last course was.

cheers

Brian
