Hello! I have quite a few ancestors from Jessamine County, but I was rather interested in a particular family. I was wondering if any of you had any anecdotal histories or photographs (of any family, really). I'm curious about William E Fain (1863-1919) and his wife (one of?) Nancy Margaret Waters (1889-1990). They left my grandmother (Jane Elizabeth Fain (1913-1988) at an orphanage (Hope Haven for Girls) in Cincinnati.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add an important fact about Elsie. From her photos I have to think she was mulatto. A friend of mine who grew up in Kentucky told me that would be his best guess. Thank you.

Searching for my great grandmother, Elsie Simpson, born 1862. She had three children with Luther B Dickerson of Nicholasville, Jessamine County, KY. One of them was my grandmother, Mary Weiser Dickerson born is 1892. I have Elsie's death certificate which lists her father as, "Unknown Simpson, born in Scotland". Her mother is listed as, "Unknown, born in USA". Any ideas of where to find her or any information about her greatly appreciated. I have these Dickerson's traced back to 1564 if anyone needs any information.

Billie, There is a death record for a Melvin C Carter died 6 May 1929, no birth date given. Father listed is William Carter, no mother info. Residence was on the Danville Rd. Informant was Herman Carter. Cause of death was being accidentally struck by something I couldn't make out which resulted in several fractures.
Sounds like the man you are looking for. I don't have a lot of time this morning, but I will check some more if you are still interested.

Jodi, My husband is also related to the Bowman family. His gtgtgdfather, Michael Arnspiger married Esther Bowman, daughter of Joseph Bowman and Nancy Houser. That would make Esther Bowman a sister to your Joseph Bowwman II. So we are related (even though it's by marriage for me). I am the family genealogist.

I am interested in the Bowman and the Earthenhouse families of Jessamine county. This is part of my husband's line. In an amazing twist of fate, I was given his family's "history in a breadbox" that led me to these 2 families not long after I moved to Lexington, Fayette County from Arizona. We are originally from Ohio though. My husband's great Aunt had done ALOT of research in the 70s and such and left all of it to her niece (husband's aunt) for safekeeping in a tin breadbox. Lots of great treasures in there! Anyhoo... Conrad Earthenhouse (1755-1845) had a daughter named Elizabeth (1781-1885) who married Joseph Bowman II (b 1780 in PA), son of Joseph Bowman and Nancy Howser. Elizabeth and Joseph had a son named Isaac Bowman who married a Mary Ann Caldwell/Colwell. Their daughter Nancy married a Samuel Spall of Jackson County, Indiana.
