Margaret, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I see that someone on the DAR site did look up your ancestor for you.
As far as the Kerr surname, my great-great-grandmother was Anna Maria Kerr and she married Peter Henry Weiser. I do not know a lot about Anna, but recently found a relative who told me she was born in 1825 in PA to Robert and Mary (Myers) Kerr. Anna was one of 15 children!
I am anxious to compare notes with you on the Vance Family. My mother's maiden name was Arbogast. I am related to Harpers, Mullenaxks, Hinkles, Waybrights, Raines, just to name a few.
Glad to be of help. It is best to get with someone in the beginning who will work hard to help you. That is something you will not find in all chapters.
Bob
I don't know if you are aware but here in Dallas, TX, there just happens to be a successful business family who owns 3-4 funeral homes. The family's name is Beckwith and they own Golden Gate Funeral Homes. They are a black family, and did a wonderful job on my father's funeral! Just thought I'd pass on the info. Maybe you can research them.
Ah Elkins... known to us in the panhandle as the coldest place in the state (according to the weather maps anyway). Just wanted to drop a line and say "hey neighbor".

I am assisting a woman with lineage proofs to join the DAR. Her lineage follows the lineage of Mary Lourean Lambert Elza.
