Hi Al! Sorry for the loooonnnnggg delay in response. I'm a retail worker so I was an essential worker during covid. I never "officially" had it but was pretty sick at the begining of 2020 before they said it was in the U.S. so I think I may have had it before they knew it was here but was diagnosed as a severe respiratory infection. I'd never had respiratory infections last that long (my cough lasted a couple weeks after the other symptoms went away)

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I am staying home and safe for Covid19 and hope you and your family are, too.

I am, sadly, not a descendant of the Mayflower Hopkins. My Hopkins are more recent immigrants.

I do have other early colonial ancestors, but have not yet found any who traveled on the Mayflower.

Doing my best, Al. Social worker at a children's hospital so kind of on the front line. Have done screening at the front door, put down x's every six feet (front entrance, parking and within the Resource Centre where I work), and other "duties as assigned". Expect to be seconded or deployed elsewhere next week as our staffing will rise a bit.

"Are your TAYLORs from Ontario? Do any have HADDON as a middle name?"

Hi Al. No, the Taylors I am connected to are in Nova Scotia and it is only by marriage.

Hi Al,

That's where the Wares lived for a couple of generations! Lucy married Edmund Joseph Ware about 1901, and her dad helped him build a corner store across the Don River when the Danforth first opened up. I'm descended from their son, and have seen the store.

Are you in the Toronto area?

No. It is a very common name though so a blanket shout out probably isn't going to do you much good. Good Luck

Hi Al,

My great-grandmother, Lucy Agnes Dawson was
Born: Sep 20 1881
Died: May 4 1936 (at age 54)

She was born in North York township, now part of Toronto, and also died in Toronto.
Her parents, James Dawson and Mary Herbert, had been married in Scotland not too long before. James died in July, 1926 in Toronto. I've been told by her daughter that Lucy was an only child.

Hope this is helpful,

Dara

I'm still working on Jefferson and Harden Williams and the Rouse/Dawson connection.  Few documents are surfacing for that early time period.

Thank you for the information on FGS.  I was hoping to get more training in Genealogy this year, either in my personal time or by attending conferences.  I will see what I can do about making the trip.  My Taylor and Smith line starts somewhere in Pennsylvania or New England, with no trace to Europe.  They may have come from Europe to US or from Europe to Canada to US. However, all my ties to the Northern European ancestry is from the early Colonial times, when many of the families from Europe migrated into the US.  It is hard to trace the lineage back to Europe since that was around 1600-1700 already.!!

However from DNA testing, I matched with someone who originated from Ireland.!!

One, Dick Shea wrote: Jim and I have common ancestors who lived in Co. Kerry, Ireland.  The surnames are: Shea; Richardson; Moloney; Herbert; and Eagar.  Our ancestors lived in several different locations in Kerry, namely Kenmare, Killarney, Tralee, Duagh, and Listowel. Also they are tied with Smith who moved to England.

This is getting a bit spooky because I am also related to Herman Husband who is my 4th Great Grandfather and he was instrumental with being one of the "Farmers"  starting the Battle of Alamance....  Some people say it was the beginning of the American Revolution.  He lived in North Carolina and has quite the story connected with him after he left North Carolina and headed to Pennsylvania.  I just love his story... do you know anything about that?

Sorry to hear about the health problems you have been undergoing. You sure so write fast... Guess it is because I have the Super Bowl on now but thinking about turning it off.   Poor San Francisco.... gotta hope a West Coast team wins...
