Hello from sunny Florida.. I've been a member of Genealogy for awhile now, but have been laxcie dazy and this is my first post in quite awhile. I would love to do gifts for my families and this is a good place to start as any. I am still trying to catch up on some of the sites. I just went thru all of the videos this morning and wrote down a whole lot of information since I've been an awful creature of habit and staying on one or two sites all these years. Boy!! Do I have a lot to catch up on. I'll be back I promise!! Oh my name is Judy

Merry Christmas all! I posted a free family group sheet on my new blog. I printed it out on paper I stained and distressed. Font available to download as well as frame.

Enjoy!

Hiiiiii...I joined Genealogywise about a week ago. I spotted this group and joined right away, but haven't had a chance to peek through the comments until now. I am 26 and have been working on my family history on and off for about 5 years. I had previously thought about scrapping all my research, but hadn't been able to come up with any ideas, or the time for that matter. Thank you everyone for your posts on here, and thank you Katrina for all your work. I have found some really inspirational ideas on here and it is giving me the itch to scrap...unfortunately I am living in Croatia at the moment and most of my photos and things are back in Canada :(

I teach graphic design at a local community college. I also restore damaged photographs. Additionally, I am interested in the names Sineath, Taylor, Love, and Deaton. I have some great tips for scanning and printing images and slides if anyone should need them I'm happy to email or post. Thanks!

I agree. Please scan the originals, and get them preserved before you start. Then you can print additional copies of the documents or make copies of the CD for other family members. I have several printing solutions, books and posters, fo you if you'd like more info after you're ready to scan the documents. How lucky to have access to those documents! Good luck!

NEVER put the original in a scrapbook, scan it, print out the copy and put That in the scrapbook. You can print the front and the back separately. You can also use the plastic slip sheets for scrapbooks so that you can read both sides of a page.

Marcia thank you for mentioning my blog "Whos your Daddy" (BIG SMILE)
Click "Family Tree Freebies" for all the graphics and clipart.

Kristine, Thanx for asking that question (smile) I use just plain ol windows paint to edit and my mostly B&W graphics. I even tried my hand at making a http://findmyroots.blogspot.com/2009/05/wordless-wednesday-family-chart.html. What I havent had time to try yet is making some scrapbook pages. When I have time I will have to try out of the progs the others have mentioned. I know windows paint wont cut it.

I use Heritage Makers Studio. It's different then Paint Shop Pro in some ways. Its got an easy click and drag system. They have a free account with 2 G of photo storage space and you can create as many projects as you want. the upgrade to Premier is only $20 a month and includes over 40,000 pieces of digital scapbooking art. You can add your own digital art to either account as long as it is a JPG or a PNG. You have to publish through them but their quality is sooo professional! also its all online, www.sharingheritage.com, so you don't have to download anything. I'm a publish consultant with them and I'll answer any questions you have. Let me know!
