Further to my Friend request about Kenneth McCaskill.  I searched your Daniel Hugh McCaskill and found some data in a North Carolina 1851 Census.  It showed a son named Kenneth McCaskill as residing in that household.  Is this where you got the connection, if not, where?  In any case, my gggrandfather Kenneth McCaskill was living in Ontario, Canada at that time, so that 1851 NC Census item can't for be him.

Hi Raleigh, yes I heard the same story from my grandmother but could never prove it yet. Last I have is William B and Abigail C Johnson Dikes and our g-grandfathers were living in Burnham, Texas in 1870 and next Abigail is widowed living in Haskell Texas in 1880. Do you have the story written down anywhere? I heard one of the boys (William Marcus) was there when his dad was shot.

Just thought that you would like to know that I know that I wqas wrong. It was not Wm M Dikes who was killed by his adopted son but his father, William Dikes who was killed by his adopted son. Sorry about the misinformation. My Uncle, James Dikes said that Wm M died of pneumonia in 1910. Never let it be said that I can't be corrected. Ha! Ha!

Would like to add you as a friend. William Marcus Dikes is my ggfather. Barney C. Dikes is my grandfather and his son. Am not sure that the Wm M Dikes is the same one, though. My GGfather died in 1910 having been murdered by his adopted son over a cattle inheritance as reported by Barney prior to his death .
