My Lee roots go back to John Lee b. 1763 Mill Green, Harford County, MD d. 1803 Delta, Peach Bottom, PA. John was married to Martha Howlett b. 1764 Aberdeen, MD and d. 1848 Peach Bottom, PA. John fought in the Revolution, MD line. He and Martha had 7 children: John Riddle, James Howlett, Edward (my gr-x3 grandfather, David, Annie Sample, Parker and Caroline. All the boys fought in the War of 1812. In the early 1800's, the family moved to Peach Bottom, PA where John was killed in 1803 by the accidental gunshot of another person. I have been able to trace John forward to my great-grandmother, Martha Lee b. 1860 d. 1949, Lancaster, PA, but have hit that brick wall in my search for John Lee's parents. Have tried everything I know to find out who they were, but to no avail. Even paid $75 for John's Rev. War papers in hopes it would be mentioned there, but no luck. My gr-grandmother told me we are direct descendants of the General, but I haven't been able to find the link. Perhaps b/c most of these Lee's fought for the Union..... If anyone has more info they are willing to share or suggestions on where next to search, I'm open to all. Thanks in advance!

My second great-grandmother was Margaret LEE (b. ca. 1839) who married James RUTHERFORD in Ingersoll, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada, in October 1855. Margaret LEE was born in Ireland per Canadian census returns -- probably Northern Ireland. Margaret told her grandson that she stowed away on the ship that brought her to Canada, but I don't have any idea if there were other family members on board. She was about fourteen years old at the time. Margaret and James made their home in Huron County, Ontario, Canada. She died in June 1912 at Mitchell, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. I have no information about her family. This is a big brick wall in my research and I would like to hear from any LEE descendants who may have a connection to Margaret.

My paternal grandfather is one of 12 children. My late father researched his father's family back to Canada. I do have a very intense book on this line of Lee's
