I hope everyone will test too! DNA testing is starting to go mainstream now. It does help that the cost of testing has come down in price so much.

Hi Debbie, that's a shame, I don't know any Tidbury males either.  I love DNA - it has revealed some very big secrets in my family - I wish everyone would test!

Hi Monique, Yes I do remember corresponding with your cousin. From what I recall our Tidbury lines do converge but only back in the 1700s so we probably wouldn't expect to share enough DNA to show up as a match. I'd love to get some Y-DNA testing done on some Tidburys but I don't have any males to test in my line.

Hi Debbie, I thought I recognised your name, I think you helped my cousin Richard Giles out with some Tidbury research many years ago.

Tidbury's appear a couple of times in my tree - Helen Matilda Tidbury married my 2x Gt Grandfather (also called Richard Giles) but she isn't my ancestor as he married my 2x Gt Grandmother Lucy Bishop after Helen died.  I think that Helen Matilda's father William Tidbury b1833 Ashmore Green d1904 Durham may have been a bigamist.

Also, Richard Giles mother (so my 3x Gt Grandmother) was Sarah Ann Alder daughter of Chalres Alder and Mary Ann Tidbury.

The Tidbury name has also popped up in my mum's late husband's tree - they seem to be entwined in lots of families in the area.

I match someone on FTDNA from Australia who is descended from the Alders, but have not found any match with a Tidbury connection yet - maybe I didn't get their DNA passed down to me!  Hopefully I will get more matches when testing in the UK really takes off.  I have tested on FTDNA and Ancestry.

Hi Monique, I'm also descended from the Tidburys of Newbury, Greenham and Thatcham. I've tested at FTDNA, 23andMe and AncestryDNA. I've checked our results on GedMatch but unfortunately we do not show up as a match.

My Tidburys are from Newbury, Greenham and Thatcham.  If anyone has had their DNA tested, my GEDmatch number is F392073.  :-)

Hi, I am researching my husband's (Tidbury) family. We have got back to William Tidbury in Kintbury - anybody else have Tidbury ancestors from here?

Hi Vicky, Yes I would like a copy of the will. By the way the photo I've used for the group is of my grandmother Winifred Mabel Tidbury (1902-1991).

Hi Debbie,
Thought I would tell you that I have a draft Will for Robert Tidbury 1798-1869 of Bucklebury that I have transcribed. If it is of use to you, email me.
