Hi,
I'm a branch B LAITY (B13 to be exact), but I'm currently trying to focus more on other lines just now.
I'm doing my genealogy first exam project (writing it this last 5mts) on my maternal G.GM.
We also have some fun puzzles at the moment:
My Dad's Mum's line are SPENCER, but several (sadly no longer with us) relatives in living memory were determined it's the SPENCER-CHURCHILL line.
Looking forward to getting to the truth of it - either way, will be a great story going forward.On Mum's side, so far, there's stuff that's magic to me as a social historian, but fairly boring to others.
I do have two missions on that line at the moment (beyond finish the project and sit that exam).First, there's the Grandma METTAM situation. Having disentangled her story and discovered she's 'ours' by affection only, I'm still looking for her descendants to give a copy of what we have on her to.
So far, everywhere I've tried to make touch, I've found people who're working on third party trees and aren't interested.Secondly, there's Mum's HAWLEY line. I'm testing a theoretical connection to the knights DE HAWLEY. Don't know if it'll pan out yet as I'm only in the middle C18th.
For my fella, I'm very slowly piecing together his Italian and French trees.
For the Italians, we have SASSANA and LOMBARDI relations in Borgosesia and Potenza.The French side is interesting.
On his RAMEAU line, we only need to find one more generation somehow, to get back far enough to public records. The family legend there is that line goes back to the composer, so that'll be fun to prove and disprove.Fun factoid - I also design knitting patterns. I'm currently running a knitalong on a genealogy shawl and am putting the finishing touches on a bag for knitting genealogists.

I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. - you'll laugh: I must've done something weird with my settings - the first I knew this was here, I got a notification on my business page on facebook!
Ah well, here now.
Certainly it sounds like we should compare notes.
In all fairness though, I should warn you, this line for our side of the family was, until very recently, a lost one (if it turns out we're related, I'll tell you the story as we received it, so we can compare).
My Nana was one of the five children of Mary Ann Spencer (who I recently acquired a photo of if you're interested).
Mary Ann was daughter of Thomas, himself one of the eight children of another Thomas.
The elder Thomas was one of the seven children of George.
That's as far as I've managed to get in the month or so since this line opened up.
My Nana, much as we loved her, was something of an odd duck. Something she may have inherited from Mary Ann (though I never knew Mary Ann personally, so cannot be sure).
One thing Nana (and her mother before her apparently) were absolutely adamant about was that they were Spencer-Churchills and directly related to Winston Churchill.
I'm sure probably every Spencer on the planet probably at some point has tried to claim a link, but there are some oddities that make me think there may actually be something to it.
For one thing, my Nana was a woman of absolutes. If she said something, it was because she whole-heartedly believed it (though of course, she could have been misinformed, but whatever she was taught was deep rooted in her for life).
Secondly, even after becoming estranged from the family, she held onto this.
She had no time for Princess D though (who was also a relation if the link to Winston proves out).
There are some other little Chinese whispers of a couple of stories that seem to suggest it was possible.
Obviously I have dates and some details for these relatives so far and am happy to share info.
Do you think we might be related?
I'm currently at a brick wall with both George and his wife Ann Eaves.

Ps - if you've any tips on how to add trees and blogs here, I'd be interested.
Pps - we also have Dawsons on the other side. Perhaps we descend more than one way?

My name is Whitman Keith Conroy, but I go by Keith, and I'm researching my father's Conroy ancestors who lived in St. Lawrence county, NY after arriving from Ireland, and my mother's Mahaney ancestors who lived in Oswego county, NY after arriving from Ireland. I have much info on those who lived here in NY (I live in Phoenix, NY), but have NO information on the first ones of each family to arrive, and from where in Ireland they came., nor when they arrived.

Hi, I have just started in this game and my main names (my grandparents) are Young (Wiltshire, Hampshire, Berkshire and Canada), Wilson (Scotland), Flecknoe (Hertfordshire, I think) and Penin (Northern France). I have started on Young and joined both the Hampshire and Berkshire local records offices and will be spending some time there in May. I live just west of London, so these offices are easily accessible to me. I am happy to look up details if anyone needs help and has a specific record that needs checking. Likewise, I am happy to visit graveyards and take photos in the Hampshire/Berkshire/west London area. From the little I have done so far on the Young family I have only reached back to Joseph Young who I believe was born in 1816, but haven't yet found proof of his birth. I think it was in Hampshire, but it may have been Wiltshire. I have a little mystery that I have spent some time on...Joseph Young was a porter on the railway, died young in 1852 and his widow spent her life as a servant and dressmaker and ran a small lodging house (4 lodgers) for about 10 years before moving in with her eldest son for her retirement. However, on her death in 1898 she left the equivalent today of £15,000 to her second son. How did she come to have so much money, given her status and why didn't she leave it to her first son, with whom she lived at the time of her death? There is definitely something going on because the first son is Alfred and the 2nd son is called after her husband, Joseph. According to the records, Alfred was born well within wedlock so it doesn't seem to be a matter of Alfred not being called Joseph and not inheriting because he was illegitimate. I also don't think there was an earlier child called Joseph that died as there are daughters before the sons and no gap for an earlier son, presumably called Joseph to have been born and died. I do recognize people did lie, even on official records. Solving this mystery is beginning to obsess me! There is a possibility that a daughter married well and gave the money to the mother but I have not yet been able to prove that my Sarah Young married the businessman Isaac Brine in question. Hoping to find that out at the Hampshire records office.

Could it maybe be a situation where baby brother was the favourite, or possibly was more vulnerable than the other siblings?
Not sure how you're fixed with ancestry, but if there's anything there that you need and can't get at, sing out and I'll look it up for you.

My GG Grandfather, Solomon Wolf, immigrated from Weil der Stadt, Germany to NYC in 1849
My G Grandfather, David Wolf was also born in Weil der Stadt and came with his father.
My Grandfather, William Wolf was born in NYC and moved to Philadelphia, Pa between 1855 and 1860
Solomon was a widower, but all I have is the first name was his wife, Agnes, who died in Germany
David married Susanna Berger sometime between 1852 and 1855 in NYC (can not locate and marriage record)

My name is John Barry ,I'm researching my Grandma ancestors who lived in Ireland an new York NY after arriving from Ireland, my Grandma mom Clare C Madden who lived in NY met Frederick William Browne Sr and married at this time I want to know more about the Madden after some arriving from Ireland. I have much info on those who lived here in NY I live in Florida and been trying to find this link for a few years now. I have one pitcher of grandpa/ma from the 1800 I think also about six letters telling of the family.
Is there someone out that could help me find missing link???
I have been working on the Madden family tree. From the notes, I have and pitcher But They do not have much information. This a bit of what I Have from My grandmother "Olivia" notes. Clare C Madden, Brown, Dob could have been 1892 Limerick, Ireland Death 28/AUG/1948 • New York, USA the notes say that "Clara" had twin Brother Michael, Richard And 7 Sister Olivia, Grandma Her mom Clare, Kat?, Maude, Annastacia? In addition, 2 more. MY Grandmother mother and her farther lived in New York. This Census Report show Residence with Clare C Madden, Brown a son in Apr 1940 New York, New York, USA also her Brother Single; Michael Madden live there at the time. His age then was 48

Hi my name is Nancy. I am researching my dad's father's side of the family Cole/Coles. Most of my lineage thus far is in Boston, predominantly Cambridge. My first cousin and I have researched back to a John Cole who came from England and settled in Kennebunkport Maine. My Uncle, grandfather and great grandfather all were named Herbert Bennett. We cannot find any connection between Coles and Bennett. Not giving up, just has to be one. Any help with Cole/ Coles lineage would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
