The Kennedys

This clan started in Irleland in about 900. From what I understand is that all the Kennedys are from this clan.

@jeanette Seaborn.

My grandmother was an Inishkeel Kennedy - they are concentrated in an area between Ardara and Inver.

It is not surname native to Donegal.

Two brothers are recorded in the 1660's paying the Money Hearth Roll tax.

They are believed to be from Tipperary.

So far, I know that our Kennedy family lived in Tipperary Ireland and came to the US in the 1800s.  They began in Chicago and then moved to Nebraska by wagon.

I know how you feel. There are a number of questions that I'd love to ask some of my ancestors, but I don't have that opportunity. So I guess we have to make do with what we can find.

Jeanette, that is so great!! I have heard that many of the Kennedy from that first clan spread out all over Ireland. If I could just find out just who my Thomas' parents were and where he came from. I just wish I could find a time machine, then I would go back in time and talk to him. LOL Wouldn't that be so cool!!

I recently found another possible location for my Kennedy clan: Inneskill in County Donegal.

My 3x great grandparents are Henry Kennedy (born between 1820-1830) and Ann Montgomery (born around the same time). They were born in Northern Ireland; Fermanagh County, possibly the area of Enniskillen.
They emigrated to Canada in the 1850s. Their children were: John (born about 1853; died in Hastings County, Ontario); William (my 2x great grandfather, born about 18 February 1853; died 18 July 1922 in Belmont Township, Peterborough County, Ontario); Robert (born about 1853; died 13 April 1939 in Peterborough, Peterborough County, Ontario); James Henry (born about 1862; died 13 April 1893 in Hastings County, Ontario); and Margaret (born about 1872).
I'm hoping to find out more about my Irish ancestors and relatives.
