Working on my Harris line, I found the following:

Temperance Overton was the daughter of William Overton (12/3/1638 - 1697) and Elizabeth Mary Waters (1650 - 1697). William and Mary married on 11/24/1670 in Yorktown, Virginia. Mary Waters was of the St. Sepulchres Parish, London, England. She came to Virginia as "maid" to be a wife. Mary was the daughter of Samuel Waters and Ann ?. Temperance's siblings were Samuel Overton, Barbara Overton, Elizabeth Overton (6/28/1673 - ?), William Overton (8/6/1675 - 6/18/1759) and James Overton (8/14/1688 - 6/18/1748)

William Overton was the son of Robert Overton (1609 - 1668) and Ann Gardiner (1613 - ?). Robert Overton was the son of John Overton (1585 - ?) and Joanne Snawsell (abt. 1581 - ?).

John Overton was the son of William Overton (1560 - ?)

Good day everyone! My name is Maxanne - My parents are Wayne L Sanders and Faye L. Harris. I have followed my Mother's Harris line back to Hilliard Harris (1818-1880) He was married to Mahalia Ann Miller whose line I have followed quite far back into history. I have hit a wall with Hilliard, however, so I hope to find out more about the Harris ancestry from this group.

I have some written information from the Cannon Family (related by marriage to Mahalia Ann Miller) so I plan to dig out that info again to review and update what I can find.

I look forward to researching here! Thanks

My Great-great grandmother was Matilda Evelyn Harris. She had two brothers Stephen (Steven) Floyd Harris and Elisha (Bud) Clemin Harris. Their Father was always told to us as (James) Mack Harris, possilby a nick name. I have found "James Mack" and "Joseph Martin" Harris, as being married to "Nancy E. Caudle", their Mother. Does anyone know or have any documentation or evidence to clarify this for us? Any and all info will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi all.  My Great Great Grandfather, Thomas Harris, was born in OH ab 1826. On the Death Certificate his father Elijah was listed as coming from PA.  I cannot seem to find any reference to Elijah in PA.  The rest of the line down to me has always lived in Oh or Ilinois (for a breif time).  Does anyone have an Elijah in their line.  Thank you

Hi,  I'm a new member today.  I'm descended from Robert Harris 1695 York Co. VA and his wife Mary Starke.  This line goes to/through George Fuller Harris, illegitimate son of William Fuller (son of George Fuller) and Mary Harris.  Is anyone else searching this line?

Hello all,
I am searching for a family connection between the Harris Family of Pa and Conn. I am descended from the Thomas Harris(1655-1697) that married Ruth James in 1680. Many people have him mistakenly identified as the son of Daniel Harris and Mary Weld of Ma. This is not correct. At this point his parents have not been proven but clues are pointing to the fact that he was orphaned at a young age and had a brother named Walter.
His son, Nathaniel Harris(1693-1775) of Cumberland , NJ, married as his 2nd wife. a young woman named Elizabeth Harris (maiden Name) (1697-1773) in 1722.  ELIZABETH HARRIS is reported to be Nathaniel's 3rd Cousin and descended from JOHN HARRIS of Pa.
If this is true then these 2 families are linked and the great mystery of Thomas' heritage and that of all his descendents may be closer to being solved.
I have been searching for the parents of this Elizabeth Harris of Pa. I am hoping one of you may know of her and be able to help me. I found recorded on someone family tree that they were a John Harris and Elizabeth Rowe...but i can't find an Elizabeth Rowe either.
 Thank you for your time.

Just discovered this forum. I also have a PA Harris - Samuel Harris married to Elizabeth Slicer, Only thing in his family Bible was that he was born 1 March 1808 in PA, ( we suspect Chester Co and possibly that he was Quaker) Married Elizabeth 24 January 1833 and had four of his 7 children in PE John Thomas, Joseph, Mary Elizabeth, William Henry and the other three in Cecil CO MD -Sabina, Deborah Kirk, and Caroline. He and his wife are buried in Brick School House , Calvert MD, Quaker cemetery. I am looking for any information as to his parents, where born, where married and the birth of his children in PA. I have a detailed account of his family up to my birth and my Mom Helen Harris. Hope to help anyone completing his family tree! Thanks!

Hi all!  I belong to Stephen Harris (1795, Georgia) and Phebe Hawkins (1798, Georgia).  That's where I'm stuck.  Our Harris', as far back as I can go, were from Georgia before the Civil War but then about the time Hilliard Harris served (1862) in the Arkansas militia, the family settled in Bradly County, Arkansas.  My grandfather was the first to move to Louisiana and settled in Calcasieu Parish.

My Harris line traces back past Robert Harris and Dorthy Wiley maternally.  I have done the Ancestry DNA test.  I haven't gotten my results yet.

Hello all, I am researching my Harris line and have hit a brick wall. I have gotten as far back as Kimbrell Harris born 1813 in TN (not exactly sure where). He was residing in Smith Co. Tn in 1838 I know for sure. He married Prudence James and they traveled to Phillips Co. AR. Prudence died and Kimbrell remarried. Kimbrell had a sister Fannie and Martha that both married a John Hutches. I beleve that he also had a brother named George W. Harris.

Kimbrell's parents are shown on the census to have been born in NC. Looking at tax records from Smith Co. TN, I have found a John and Mary Harris living in an area close to the James Family. Kimbrell's first son was named John Alexander. I believe John from his Grandpa Harris and Alexander from his Grandpa James.

If anyone has any leads for me to follow, it sure would be appreciated. I have not done the DNA thing yet but plan on it soon. Again any info is appreciated.
