Hei! My ancestors (3rd and 4th great-grandfathers - Ole Andersen Huset ("Doktor Ola") & Ole Olsen Huset) practiced folk medicine in Holla, Telemark, Norway in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Another ancestor - John Johnson Sandvig - was a rosemaler from Tinn, Telemark, Norway. I would love to contact relatives both in Norway and America!

Did you check the 1865 census?  There's an Anne Berntsdatter born in 1852 living in Ovrebo municipality, Vest-Agder county, not too far away.  It does not list her birth place but it lists her parents.  Check it out.

I am trying to find the parents of my husband's great grandmother. She was Anna Elisabet Berntsen Berentsen.20 Dec 1852 d.1 Jan. 1931 Ishpeming, Marquette County, Michigan USA. Her first son Carl Gustaf Vallensten on the baptism records (Charles Wallenstein in America) was baptised in Gjerstad, Aust-Agder, Norway and born in Tvedstrand 3 Jan 1883. The family believes she was born in Egersund.

Cathrine Apelseth-Aanensen and I may be related.  I found a common name between our families, let's compare.  Sigrid Pedersdotter Heggem was born in 1756 in Midtgarden and d. 1835.  She married Ola Olson in 1777 and had 3 children.  Mali, Synnove and Peder.

Hello everyone, I am researching for my son on his paternal grandmother's line. I need a little help. His gggrandma was Elisabeth Kittelsen, b 1901 Risor, Aust-Agder, her parents were Lars Kittelsen b 24 Dec 1876, and Siri Perine Eriksdatter b 22 Aug 1877, Gjerstad, Aust-Agder. Lars' parents were Kittel Christensen b 05 Apr Haugen? and Kirstine Kjeldsdatter b 25 Feb 1854, Engholmen?

Kittels' parents were Christen Olsen and Torbor Kittilsdr? This is where I am stuck or hope that I am on the right track. If anyone can help and lead me in right direction, i would be forever grateful!

Siri's parents were Erik Christensen and Ingeborg Oldsatter

Thank you

Lars Heggem was my grandfather, born in 1888.  The farm was Heggem, near Tingvoll and Gjemnes.  He immigrated to the US in 1907 and lived in Minnesota, the Dakota's, PA, NY, MA and NH.
