Hey,

I know it’s been several years since you posted, so you might not see this, but I was wondering about the McGowans in your family. I have McGowans as well, that I’ve kind of hit a brick wall with.
My McGowans include:

My ancestor: Matilda (born around 1820, Ireland), married Edward Graham, Daughter Margaret Graham, lived in Illinois

,

Brother: John (born around 1824, Ireland), married Margaret, lived in Illinois

Possible other siblings, maybe from County Mayo.

I was just wondering if you recognized any of these names, or had more info about them.

Thanks,

Leila

Good morning, I too am new to this site, and have been doing genealogy for about 10 years.  I am researching Lam (Lamme/Lamb) in Virginia and Wyoming, Klingensmith and Lininger (Pennsylvania and Wyoming) , Hotchkiss (Connecticut), Sladek (Mostly Illinois and the Dakotas), Vermilyea (Mostly South Dakota).

I'd especially love some assistance in tracking down William Lam (he also spelled his name Lamme and Lamb), born about 1785, from Rockingham/Rockbridge Counties Virginia.  He married Elizabeth Ware (or Weir) about 1808, and had sons John and James.  There are too many William/Elizabeth/John/James families in that area at that time-- confusing.  This is not the Lam family which married into the Shifflets, and I do not think this is the William who married Elizabeth Givens (or Guivens), though there is some evidence that he may have been her son.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I am new to Genealogy Research and new to this group.  I was born in New York State. I did not learn that I was adopted until later in life, once both of my apopted parents had passed away.  This I guess is due to their fear of my rejecting them, but, as I had never inquired when they were alive, am only guessing.

I am now looking to locate information regarding any biological brothers and sisters I may have, and get to know them better.  I have a name of my biological mother, Frieda (or Freda) Newberger (other spelling are possible), but the 1940 US Census likes this spelling.

I am looking for assistance of any kind to find any information about my "real" family. and any assistance - be it suggestions, recommendation, or anything else, will be appreciated.

I am able to write well, and can develop articles, should this be needed.

Hi all!! I have been my family "historian" forever, it seems. I have been fortunate in most of my findings, but now have reached many dead ends. My searches have lead me "across the Pond" and to some very interesting churches and libraries. I guess I became interested with the first stories of my birth. Most little kids ask their Mom's...where did I come from. For me, I was lead down a path of possible psychic connections!! My maternal Grandmother was born with a "cowel" over her face. It was thought that she was able to foretell the future!! So I started to dig into our past. I was hooked!! A story of how Thomas Tupper came to America and settled in Sandwich, MA (USA) in 1629 sent my mind whirling. I needed to FIND him/them. Everyone! I am a searcher for life...Bell, McDermott, Tupper, Hines, Andersen. These are my "kin folk". I long to see pictures of them all!!

Hello My name is Yvonna. I recently did my DNA on 23andme and found out my mtDNA Haplogroup is B2(Native American). I am bi-racial; African-American/Mexican-American. So the maternal lineage I am more focused on especially after the results are Hill and Liverman in Gum Neck, NC. I can't go father then Hill but know my 2nd Great Grandma's Haplogroup would be the same. I'm very interested where all the information will lead me. I know it will take me for a journey..

Hi--Is Gum Neck in Hyde co nc?  That is where my ancestors are from--what other names are you looking for---patricia

Hi Yvonna--I am Patricia and my ancestors were from Hyde co--who else are you related to from there--let me know I have almost all of the books on that county--I live in Nc where are you--Patricia

Greetings to All!!!

I am back here! Anyway, I was researching on/off during college in DC. I took a test from AncestryDNA and I received AncestryDNA result a month ago. Of course, I am member of Ancestry. I haven't start it yet because I will have to upload Gedmatch soon as I can. Also, I recently transferred Ansmoual X from Family Tree DNA. I will check it out whenever I have time.

Thank you for your time. Have a great evening! :-)
