I'm researching the family of John Thomas (b. 1799) from Llandysul, Cardiganshire I'm also interested in the family of John Evans (b. 1816) in Mold, Flintshire and his wife Elizabeth Hastings (b. 1817) in St. Asaph, Denbighshire. I'm a descendant of all of the above. I live in Arizona in the US. Right now I'm slowly working through ordering death and marriage certificates from the GRO. I ordered my first batch about a week ago. I'm not sure how long it will take for the copies to get here. If anyone has any experience with this, any tips and/or information on what to expect would be appreciated.
Hello Chip and fellow members of this group. I am researching the names of Kneath, Heddon[Headon], Sommerwill, Williams and Harris. Great to be a member of this social networking group site. Warmest Regards Jan Minter Australia
Hello, I'm Anne Shankland, tracing Shanklands - and they all seem to come from south-west Scotland, northern Ireland, and south Wales. The Welsh ones are particularly intriguing. I'm sure there are links between the Welsh and the Scots-Irish, but I haven't found it yet. Still looking! The primary areas of interest are Carmarthenshire, Glamorgan, Pembrokeshire.
My supposedly Welsh ancestor was Barnabas Wilcox who came to PA in perhaps the mid 1680s and may have been mayor of Philadelphia prior to the city's incorporation. He came from Bristol and was said to have been a native of that city or Wales. He was a ropemaker. Send me a message if you connect to him.
I am trying to confirm the ancestry of my ancestor Edward MORGAN born 1670 Glamorgan,Wales died 1736 Kulpsville,PA. His wife was Elizabeth and they had twelve children, one of which was my ancestor Sarah MORGAN born 1700 died 1777 married 27 July 1720 Berks Co,PA to Squire BOONE. Edward has been said to be the child of James MORGAN born 1643 Llantarnum Abbey,Wales died 30 April 1718 Stowell,Gloucester,England and his wife Anne HOPTON (dau of Richard HOPTON) who were married 1668. James was also married to Alice HOPTON (sister to Anne).Edward had 2 siblings,Sarah and William. There is some controversy regarding his true parentage and some say that Edward son of James and Anne (HOPTON)MORGAN died without issue. The house that Edward MORGAN built circa 1700 in Kulpsville,PA still stands today and is open to the public (Morgan Log House).
Hi Sheila
I have a Mary or Martha Cod (Cosherston, I don't know where she was born), My great grandmother was a Griffiths of Style Bosherston. I also have Llewhellins in the Pembroke area. Are you from the Dock?
Hi everyone, I'm researching my ancestors in Wales ... they all originated in Pembrokeshire. My great-grandfather James WILLIAMS was born in St Twynnels ... so I was very interested in Sheila Rowlands' entry, when she mentioned "Williams St Twynnels". He married Priscilla MURRAY, born in Monkton ... other entries for her were "MURRA, MORROW and MURAH", so I'm assuming the census records were being done phonetically. Priscilla's mother Elizabeth was born in Coedcanlas (or Landshipping) and appears to have been widowed very early. I don't have her maiden name. James was thrown off the land in the late 1880s and moved to Gilfach Goch - his children were Elizabeth (married THOMAS), William Morris, Henry James (my grandfather) and Gwladys (married ACOURT).

Henry James Williams' wife was Eleanor ("Nellie") JENKINS. Her family were all from Llanelli (including a link to the TREHARNEs) and Port Talbot.

Keen to hear from anyone who has any information. Many thanks, Janet

I also have some LLOYD, REES ancestors from different lines but I do not know where in Wales they came from.
Hi, I am researching various families in Wales. The first (nice and easy) is Breeze and varients from Radnorshire. The rest (not so easy) are Jones, Evans and Williams. Jones - David Cynon Jones, parents Evan Jones & Margeret Jones (her father was a minister) from Llandysil he married Martha Evans in 1897 in Newcastle Emlyn. Had three children with her. Rumour has it that he then slept with her sister and got her pregnant. He then left and remarried (bigamy) and had another child.

The Evans side is Martha's line. Her parents were John Evans and Anne Griffiths. They are from Llangeler in Carmarthanshire. The Williams are also from Radnorshire and are related by marriage to the Breeze's
My lineage goes through Ancestry of MORGAN AP OWEN, Founder of the Bowens of Court House Glamorganshire,Wales up to Maynerick,Lord of Brethnock.Morgan ap Owen (made his will in 1467) Would like dates for Lord Brethnocks time and any other info pertaining to his line. This partial pedigree was taken from the Protheroe Collections, Vol. 8 and Vincent Collections deposited in the College of Arms, London and certified by the York Herald, 29 July, 1891.
Hi i am Ashley & have been researching my family history for almost 7 years now. I am working on Pri(t)chard, Williams & Rodrick. My family is from Llanrhychwyn area in Wales which is now apart of the County of Conwy. Nice to meat everyone here.
I'm researching the family of Owen Humphreys and his wife Jane (reportedly born Jane Jones, but I haven't found confirmation of that), who were born in Wales around 1829 and are married and in Columbia, Wisconsin in 1860. I've found a possibility for Owen in 1850 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, which makes sense, but it's a common enough name and he wasn't married yet, so no confidence that it's the same person.

I've recently read The Welsh in Wisconsin, by Philip Davis (thanks, Chip, for the information about that book), and am wondering if anyone else is working on immigrants who ended up in Wisconsin. (Mine didn't actually stay all that long -- they were in Minnesota by 1870 and eventually ended up in Washington state.)
