Carolyn,

At the bottom right of every Family View page are 3 boxes with the letters "H", "M", "W" followed by a number, these are the husband's RIN, MRIN and wife's RIN respectively. Go to the view for the parents to whom you wish to link the children.and make a note of the MRIN.

Now unlink the first child from the current parents and link to existing parents using the MRIN to identify them. Repeat for each child.

Hi, I have a problem that I don't know how to solve. I have children born to one set of parents and have followed these children through with their wives and their children. Now I have found that their Father was married twice and I have the wrong Mother for some of the children, they were from a previous marriage. How can I add them to his other wife and delete them from the 2nd wife. I tried linking them to the 1st wife and deleted them from the 2nd but wiped all the family out of my tree.

Thanks....Carolyn

Hey Jude, there are slight differences. You are correct in the use of the Delete key - it will simply delete the selected text. While Ctrl+X is actually the Cut command. This will cut the selected text AND hold it in memory [the Clipboard]. That way you can now go to another location and Paste that text.

I can't think of a place where it doesn't work. Another good one is CTRL-X for deleting selected text. But so does the delete button.

How about that! I've used that lots before but never tried it into the Legacy program.

Always between various Windows parts of the OS.

 Thanks.   ...Lew...

Lewis,

CTRL-C puts selected text on the clipboard

CTRL-V puts the clipboard text at the position that your cursor is sitting

Is there any way to "copy and paste" from the XP clipboard to the notes in Legacy?

Sure would make entering info I already have in a .txt file into the notes.

Another problem:  Discovered I have two "Family" pages with the same parents

(same RIN nos.) but one has children, the other none. Both parents are shown

as two marriages but same person. 2 questions: how to get rid of the one with

no children. second HOW did it happen (so I can avoid it again) ? :-)

The parents of both show only one entry for the individual so that isn't the

source.

 Help!  :-)
