Hi there! My name is kat. I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a descendant of the Ellis Surry line that Dixie McCrary wrote about. My line moved to Alabama. Underhill Ellis to Richard F. Ellis b.ca 1811 N.C. I am looking for information on Richard and his father. I know Richard Ellis married Nancy Lee in Alabama, in 1839, he remarried after her death. He lived in Greene, Tuscaloosa and had many dealings in Pontotoc County, Ms. I have a few questions to throw out there for anyone who may have the answers and sources:
1.Richard's middle name
2. Burial place and date of death.
3. Did he have a will?
4.I am looking to connect with other descendants to share info, pictures etc.
Thank you!

I am a descendant of Clark Ellis (1754-1836) born in Massachusetts, USA.

He married Ruth Spooner 14 Sep 1782 in Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

I'm a descendant of Edward Ellis b. 1810 N.C. He moved to Miller county, GA. He dies before the 1880 census.

His son Joseph Ellis b. 1863 dies before the 1900 census. He had many sons including John Edwards Ellis, Henry Brewster Ellis and James Olynthus Ellis b. 1899 Miller County GA.

James moves to AL. His son Vernon Ellis (1930-1997) moves to Texas and that's where we've been for the last couple generations.

Evelyn, the chart is old, and I don't really know who put it together except some inspired Ellis researcher years ago...there were many Quakers in DE and MD.  I have no idea if the lines are connected or not, but one thing I've learned doing genealogy is never say never.  Many of my PA ancestors started out in DE and MD.  I'd check to see if your PA Ellises may have migrated from DE.

Herbert Duncan Miller, just saw your post about Ellis in TN and AR.  Are you connected to William Ellis of TN?  Wm had 4 dau:  Lydia m Jos Chenowth, Elizabeth m Sanford Crouch, MarthaPatsy m Charles Bacon, Margaret m Elijah Shipley.  Lydia, Elizabeth and Margaret and their families moved to Prarie Grove, AR

Found the Ellis chart you posted interesting, but see no mention of Ellis in Kent Co MD or Kent Co., DE.  Is this line connected to them?  The line I am following came from PA to MD and eventually to Rowan Co., NC.  Next stop for the line was Washington Co., TN.  These Ellises were Quakers in MD and DE

Who were the parents of Joshua and Abigail of Kent Co., DE and MD?  I have a lot of info on these Ellises, but nothing on this couple.  We are of Wm and Mary Clarke Ellis.  Wm b 1704 Sewells Br, Kent Co., MD, d 1761 Rowan Co., NC.  He held much property.  He was son of John Ellis b 1666 St. Paul's Par, kent Co., MD, d 1719 Kent Co., MD and Margaret E Coffin b 1685

Yes, Joshua and Abigail were from Kent Co, DE and MD.
