I am a fan of old cowboy movies and when ever I see one I end up looking up the stage names to find real names. Who knows one might be an Avery!  But anyway I add a correction to Ancestry to show an alternative name.

Today I was watching The Taming of the West starring Bill Elliott and Iris Meridith. Iris was born Iris M Shunn in Sioux City Iowa. She is on the 1920 census in  St Paul MN with her parents William and Lola and a sister Doris.

Wild Bill Elliott was born Gordon A Nance in Jackson Twp., Daviess Co Missouri and appears on the 1910 and 1920 census for that area. He starred in numerous B Westerns and the Red Ryder Series with Bobby Blake as Little Beaver. You will recognize Bobby Blake as Robert Blake of Barretta fame. Bill Elliott sometimes played the character of Wild Bill Saunders. But whatever the character, he would always say "But I am a peaceable man"

Actress Jan Sterling was born in New York City as Jane Sterling Adriance in 1921 according to the census. I caught her in an episode of The Untouchables. She is on the 1930 Census in Manhattan with her mother and step father Henry and Eleanor White and sister Ann.

Frances Paxton b. 1917 in Charlotte NC and appearing there in 1920 and 1930 census with her family changed her name to Virginia Dale and appeared in numerous TV shows and movies. I caught her in a Gene Autry movie the Singing Hill playing a rich girl who is easily led astray only to become a heroine of sorts. Her sister Joey became Miss North Carolina of 1941 and runner up to Miss America. Source www.imdb.com
