Struggling to find out my gg-grandmother, Mary A (Carter) MCCREIGHT's birth info. She was apparently born in 1842 in MS, and married Thomas Pearson MCCREIGHT in the 1870's in AR. They had 3 children, and she died, in AR in 1921.
Anyone also researching someone like this?

Hello.  I have just joined this group, but I have been researching my Carter line for nearly 10 years.  It appears to have begun in Virginia about 1770 with Francis S. Carter and wife Martha Taylor.  The line descends from Francis --> Issac H. --> Francis S. --> Benjamin Micajah --> Robert Wesley --> Robert Micajah to my mother.  Francis and Martha moved from Rockingham Co., VA to Wilkes Co., GA c. 1790, then to Baldwin Co., GA c. 1805.  Francis died in 1814.  His descendants lived in GA but moved to AL about 1850.  Does anyone have any information about the earliest generations of this line, especially who Francis Carter's parents might have been, and any documentation that conclusively links Francis with his son Isaac and his grandson Francis.  Will greatly appreciate any help or suggestions.  Thank you.

My great grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Carter, her father was William Sherman Carter and mother was Mary Florence Rudd. She was raised in Arkansas, her parents were from Weakley County, TN. William Sherman Carter's father was William H Carter who might have been from Virginia and that's where the trail ends. The Carters intermarried frequently with the Rudd & Powers families of Weakley and Carroll county. Would love to share information with anyone.
