I know my Edward Kelly (or Kelley) was not the only Kelly in New Jersey in 1820, but they sure have a knack of hiding themselves when you go hunting for them.  No Leprechaun plopped him down on a rock and left him there.

Do you have any Kelly or Kelley ancestors who came from Ireland and lived in New Jersey in 1820?

Edward Kelly, born in 1820 somewhere in New Jersey

His father was born in Ireland and his mother was born in New Jersey.

I don't know his parent's first names.

I don't know if he had siblings or their names.

I don't know where in Ireland.

I don't know where he was born in New Jersey.

Yes there is a lot I don't know.

But after 20 years of research, I have a lot I do know, too.

I know he is NOT the Edward Kelly in the 1850 census in Essex, NJ.  He was in Ohio then.

I know where he went when he left New Jersey, that he fought in the Mexican-American War and received land in return.  I know he lived and died in Neptune, Center Twp, Mercer County, Ohio.  He also lived previously in Ross and Fairfield Counties prior to going to Mercer County.  I know his spouses, his children, grandchildren, etc.

Someone, somewhere out there, has to have some Kelly's in New Jersey.  Someone, somewhere out there is looking for us.  Where are you?

Cindy

Hi to all. I'm also searching my Kelley family lines and i've hit a major wall. I'm in hopes one of you can point me in the right direction as where to look?

I'm searching for David Kelley dob 1786 in NJ, he was married to Hannah Rish (born in VA) I believe he married his cousin as his son David H Kelley, who married his 1st cousin Mary Rish.

The only thing I have on David (sr) is that his fathers name was James and was born in Ireland. I got this information for family lines that were passed down to me.  trying to find anything from that time (1700's) is next to impossible.

Thank you for any information you may have to offer.

Hello. My maiden name is Leah Kelley. I am from WV. I am located near Barbour county, where Ebenezer Kelley and Rachel Kelley lived. My great aunt, Virginia Kelley passed away just a couple years ago at the age of 97. She was still as sharp as a tack. She remembered so much. I wrote down all the family history I could learn from her. Just introducing myself for now.

iello everyone it has been a while since I have visited. My computer went crazy on me but I finally purchased a new one.  I am researching descendants of John Kelly and Nancy Ammons. They lived in Wayne County, GA. My delimma is they had a son Sherrod Sheffield Kelly who married Charity M. Lewis and after her death married Martha Ann Lewis. I will provide dates in a minute. Family lore states that Sherrod Married Charity Lewis in 1865 and she had three children before her death. He then married Martha Ann Lewis (can find no record of marriage) we was supposedly the sister of Martha Ann after the death of Charity. the rest of the children were by Martha Ann. I have been seeing the name Charity Martha Ann Lewis married to Sherrod but am somewhat leery to make any changes in my records because of what I have been told by my mother and her family.

Now I will provide dates. Sherrod Sheffield Kelly born 1834 in Georgia, married Charity Mae Lewis in 1865, Wayne County, Georgia. Okay maybe it was the first 4 or 5 children. I have John Caswell Kelly born 27Nov1879 in Georgia; Jesse Lewis Kelly born 08 June 1869 in Georgia; Elizabeth Kelly born 07Jan1873 in Wayne County, Georgia; Nancy E. Kelly born 1874 in Georgia; Susan Loucinda Kelly born 26Aug1874 in Wayne County, Georgia; Charity M. Kelly born 01Jan1875 in Wayne County, Georgia; Charles G. Kelly born 01Jan1876 in Wayne County, Georgia. James Robert Kelly born 28Oct1878 in Atlkinson, Wayne County, Georgia Married Hattie Maude Harrelson; Jefferson T. Kelly born 01Jan1882 in Georgia; Sherrod VanBurren Kelly born 01Jul1882 in Georgia; Chester Arthur Kelly born 14Sep1886 in Georgia; Spencer S. Kelly born 1884 in Georgia; and finally Carl William Kelly born 1888 in Georgia. I hope there is someone here who may be able to help me.  If you need further information just let me know.  I appreciate any assistance that may be provided and thank everyone in advance.

My GGGGrandfather - William Kelly b: 1771 in New York State (likely Dutchess County). Between 1802 & 1810 he removed to Marcellus, Onondaga County, NY and by 1811 Lysander, Onondaga County, NY where he d: 1861. He married Sarah ? abt. 1802 and they had 9 children. Ancestry DNA compared to FTM DNA indicates a possible link to Ebenezer T. Kelley in NJ. If your ancestors lived or moved throuygh central NY state and you are a descendant of Ebenezer T. Kelley, we should compare notes.

Rene,

I have seen some articles on David O'killia in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register about 1997.  David lived in Massachusetts and my line of ancestors ended up moving to Rhode Island and then Vermont.
