Glad to see you're a member of the Project. You do need to join HoG. We have regional Conveners who coordinate between the national and local levels. Have you ever been to a Highland Games or Celtic Festival? If not, that''s another great experience. There's usually a Gordon tentamong the Clan Tents at Games/Festivals

Have you inquired of the Town Cleerks in Hancock Cointy or the County Clerk of Hancock County or any of the churches in the area? Have you checked Google Books for any histories of Hancock County? How about Civil War military records? Another good ource of information are genealogical and/or historical societies at the county or town level  You can find them by Googling the town or county and genealogical or historicall society. You can also try Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (http://www.raogk.org/listing.htm).

Cheers, Jim.
