Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

I'm working on creating a subject guide of genealogy websites for a graduate project.  I have some experience with genealogy through working at the National Archives.  However, I would really appreciate it if I could get some input on great and lesser-known genealogy websites.  Thanks in advance!

Lynn, what is your field of study?  This sounds like an interesting subject, but very broad.  You can always come to the chat room and talk about your topic.  I'm sure you'd get lots of good feedback from the people there.

How would your site differ from "Cyndi's List"? -

My project is still in it infancy.  It definitely won't be as comprehensive as Cyndi's List.  It will limited to the United States and probably focused in one subject area.  It's for a Library Science class on reference.

Thanks for all of your comments!  I'll probably be back once the project is more refined.

Lynn,

I am a family genealogist located in Prince Edward Island Canada, who has successfully researched my father's Scottish heritage back to the early 1700's.  I am in the process of ascertaining whether I can start a successful genealogy business concentrating on Scottish, Irish and English emigrants to the Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

I have been trolling through the genealogy web sites extensively over the past 5 weeks so could discuss with you the attributes of many sites.
