I am having no luck at all researching my Bohemian line.

My great grandparents were Frank Stehno and Julia Horak.  Frank was born in Bohemia in May of 1862.  His parents were Frank Stehno and Anna Zicha or Zilcha.  That is all I know about him.

He married Julia Horak in Cleveland, Ohio. Julia was born in Prague about 1866.  She was the daughter of Josef Horak and Anna Nemec.  Josef, the son of Josef and Anna Horak, was a tailor.  The Horaks came to Cleveland about 1875.  Julia first married Josef Kiesel, a butcher, and had a son Joseph.  She was widowed very young.  She then married Frank Stehno, also a butcher, and had 6 more children, 4 surviving, 2 stillborn.  Her oldest daughter, Mary Cecilia was my grandmother.  Julia and Frank were married and divorced twice.  I cannot find any record of Frank's death.

I don't know anything about my great great grandmother, Anna Nemec Horak.

Hi, Cecelia - if your ancestors lived in Cleveland, you have a great resource at the website for the Cuyahoga County Archives.

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohcuyah2/

There you can look up marriages, deaths, obituaries, probate records, naturalization records and all sorts of other information. Even better, if you email the Archives with a request for information, they will send you up to 40 pages of copies of records for FREE.

My maternal ancestors were Slovak - surnames Senko, Chrapka/Hrapka, Krystyen.
