Why is it I can never find anything here... I add my information on my family and read how lucky everyone else has been here... But nothing about my family>>>>> I am doing something wrong here???? Is anyone here???

Candy - don't feel bad - I have been stuck with my great great grandfather, Jacob Avery for 40 years. I can never find anything about him. He and his family left no recorded wills or deeds. When his son, Charles died in 1909, the informatant knew that his father was Jacob, but for crying out loud, couldn't remember Jacob's wife's name. It's almost like they were on a witness protection program. I think I know where Jacob and some of his children are buried but wouldn't you know, the cemetery records have disappeared. I went to the small town where Charles is buried and met with another Avery and practically had to beg him to show me where my great grandparents were buried. I have a close Avery relative from DNA matching but he won't respond to email or a certified letter. There is a lady on here who is related to my Avery and Comfort lines who won't reply until she gets a job! You think you are having trouble!

I went to school with some Avery's In a small town in upstate NY any relation? My sister still lives in the area maybe can find some graves for ya if they are the same line as you are looking for... I have a 3 great grandfather that I can't seem to find anything about in upstate New York.. they say he was not a very nice man.. must have tossed him out with the water after he died..... Hope you get a break soon. sometimes you get tired of banging your head on the walls... So I go off into another family line, gives me time to clear my head. Had a lady doing some research on my father's family line, she is from one of the branches so much of our information crosses several people, together we found a line that went to Canada , so we are off in search the Canadian branch... Just goes to show ya never really know what is arround the next page... Happy hunting, this never seems to get old!!!!

Lisa, Sorry that have not gotten back sooner.. Family life sometimes over takes us.. I have reviewed the census lists for them after 1850 and have found that the birth dates do not match up. So I think that this may not be the right James and Melvina Rogers,. I'll keep looking tho.. Thank you for your help and input...

candy, birthdates on censuses are often not correct by several years. So don't immediately decide those are not your family. Try to verify them more with local resources where the census was taken perhaps... just a thought.

Candy I found family info on the Daniel Rodger family at familysearch.org

follow the links for other family members on the father's and mother's family
also noticed the Rodger family may have welsh, irish and scotch nationality but could not find any dutch
