Hope that you had some luck with your research into the family name Devanny. Sorry I have not been able to help you, but like you I cannot get past a brick wall with Irish records. My husband's family Diveney/Diviney I have only been able to trace from his GGGrandfather who appeared on the 1840 English Census, but no further back. Would like to hear from you, Barbara Diveney

I am sure there is some connection with our families. My husband was born in Crystal Brook. Louisa Beck was one of 12 children so there must be a very substantial lot of descendants of John and Selina Beck . If you contact me on ballanster@gmail.com we may be able to exchange some info

It's 'my time' again, though I am going to have to use most of it to try to reduce the clutter in my 'shed' (Men have sheds they can retire to, I have a room which I call a shed). It houses: computer and all things related to, filing cabinet and all household files etc., all my scrapbooking stuff, all my quilting stuff (the last two are HUGE), all my family history and genealogy stuff (if anything, that is HUGERER), sewing machines and cabinet, all my dressmaking stuff, ironing etc., and all my Primary [church related] stuff. All this in a room approx. 12' square! Having been a teacher, I tend to look at things with the 'it may come in handy someday' attitude, and I find it very difficult to discard perfectly good items. But I am slowly being squashed out, so it is time to BE RUTHLESS - if that's possible.
Frank retires round 8.30 - 9.00 (if he can last that long), and I usually stay up till midnight, sometimes later. I often get very tired round tea time, but I push through that and then I am fine. If I give in and go to bed at a civilised time, I find I get about two hours sleep, and then I'm wide awake for ages. It's not so bad in summer, I can get up again, but it's too cold this time of year, often freezing or less. I would rather go to bed later and get a straight 5 or 6 hours. I could sleep longer, but Frank wakes any time from 5 am on, and gets lonely and wants to talk. If I have a snooze in the afternoon, even an hour or less, I'm fine. I could really do with 12 hour days, that's the way my clock works - sleep 5 hours, get up and work, then sleep again for a couple of hours.
I've been tying myself in knots a bit with my family history lately, and I need to take my own advice and work on ONE line at a time. Trouble is, every time I get onto a site or a film, I seem to find references to more than one family, and then I'm caught again. And then I see all the work that needs doing on Frank's line, and as he is unable to do it, I want to catch up for him.
Testing the new.familysearch site has been taking a bit of time, too, but when it is up and running it will be fantastic. We traced one of Frank's families back to a death in AD328!, through Constantine, Bulgarian princess, One of the King Henrys, King Edward, and several Lord Mayors of London! I managed to add another 10 generations to one of my lines - nothing fancy, though.
I spent all yesterday afternoon and evening scrapbooking, it is one of the ways I 'showcase' my family history information.
You certainly keep yourself busy and involved, it's a good way to be.

Hi, Christine. I should go in and change my name, I am known by my second name, Denise. One of Frank's (my husband) cousins, Peter Bates was the policeman at Yunta for many years, and he still has a daughter there who we keep in touch with. I, too, am my husband's carer; he has dementia. Not bad, bad at this stage, he still knows me, can carry on a reasonable conversation - in fact many people might not realise that he does suffer from it, except that I know that al lot of the facts in his conversations are out of place or twisted up. He's a darling, and we have a good life, but it can be draining trying to remember everything for someone else as well as myself. I am also an avid quilter, and am involved with my church where I am responsible for children from 18 months to 12 years mainly on Sunday, though we do have weekday activities occasionally. I am a retired Special Education Teacher. Actually I was put out of the service through injuries - I had about six compensation claim payouts, and have two ongoing problems which slow me down a bit. But as I always say "the body may be a bomb, but the driver is doing fine". Would love to develop a friendship. Just be patient if I don't always answer immediately; I sometimes feel that I spend so much time on the computer, and there is so much else to do. Catch up soon, Denise
