I am trying to find out how and when my G/Grandfather William Dare born 1839 Little Shelford came to Australia.  It could have been between 1851 and 1870. He was not a convict because transportation ended 1842.  I have exhausted all passenger lists enquiries and hit a brick wall.  Has anyone any ideas.  Is there a site I can check as to his departure from England.

Re 1839 Dare William.

Catherine. Thanks very much that is what I was looking for. I had some info on William Dear and the "Washington Irving" but not enough to say for sure if that was my G/Grandfather. I am satisfied now because his parents were Joshua and Mary Dare of Little Shelford. Cambridgeshire.

Thanks again Bernie Dare
