I am researching the following inter-related families: DEAN, FOWLER, BROWN, HARMON, GANT, PILLERS/PILLARS, SIGLER/ZIEGLER, and GASTON. Many of them wound up in Randolph county, Illinois. They came in from various places from Maine, Virginia, the Carolinas, and Kentucky.

The earliest immigrants are:
OBED DEAN, from Orrington, Maine
SAMUEL BROWN, from Unknown
WILLIAM WATSON FOWLER, from Kentucky
THOMAS BENJAMIN GANT, from Kentucky
ABRAHAM HARMON (son of MICHAEL HARMON of Harmon's Settlement) from Virginia
JOHN B. PILLERS, from Kentucky
JAMES GASTON, from South Carolina
I am researching the McKINNEY,BLASENGAME, ARMSTRONG , COX, AZBILL and GENTRY families. Mostly in DeWitt County, Macon County, McLean County. Some in Piatt and Brown also.

I have a great deal of information on the McKinney's if anyone interested.
I am researching the BARNETT family in Gallatin/Saline counties by 1820. Earliest known Barnett was Joseph Barnett born about 1800 (not sure where - maybe NC) and died around 1849-1850. Thanks. Laurie

Did the GLASS family that you are researching end up in IL? I'm curious if there is any overlap with mine.
I may be doing a roadtrip soon to Fayette, McLean, and Pope Counties. Any tips?

I am researching the TIMM, HASELOW, NORDMEYER, SCHOTT, BALTHUN, REETZ, LUDEKE, and KEGEBEIN families from Kankakee and Iroquois counties.
I am researching HAMANN, GRAHMANN, (a few MUELLERS who married into the families), KIEFER, GAIN, JOKISCH, SCHROEDER, WUEBBLES mainly in St. Clair County, IL.

The St. Clair County Genealogical Society is very helpful with many indexes, cemetery, church listings. Web: http://www.stclair-ilgs.org/

I also have not seen anyone mention the IL archives databases yet... Have you been here: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html
By the way, you can Google the phone # for the Belleville Public Library... ask for Dana in the gen dept.... they will make copies out of the old newpaper files on microfilm for a very small fee then mail them to you.

I am from Mascoutah and get back there frequently. Let me know if I can be of any help.
