My Great Grandmother was born a Flanagan, born in England, married a Greer, became a widower, had one daughter, came to USA in 1891, lived with her brother and his family in Oakland CA. She then married a man last name Briggs. They (Flanagans, Briggs) are buried in Mountain View Cemetery, in Oakland CA. also in the plot is an Alice Briggs buried Mar. 24th, 1885. I figured she must be a mother in law or sister in law. but don't know. Just thought I would put this out there in case someone might have a connection.

I don't know if this is any help, but it's a "Briggs" and it's in California.

My relative, Frank Ansel Wyatt Briggs (1877-1967) died in Los Gatos, Santa Clara, California. He married Frances "Bessie" Barlow in 1903 in Missouri. Now...I find something curious with the censuses in 1910, 1920 and 1930. I believe they actually lived in Oakland California (1920), but in 1910 and 1930 they could have been visiting Missouri at the time the census was taken. His WWI draft card (1917) has his address as 730 Grand Avenue, Oakland. Frank and Bessie had 1 son, Richard, who married Lois, and they had 1 unmarried daughter Nancy.

I can find no reason why he would have moved to California just after he got married, except that his aunt, Althea C. Briggs, who born in Missouri in 1862, was living in Los Angeles according to the 1910 census. She never married and died aged 83 in 1946 in Los Angeles. His uncle, Frank Alton Briggs, shows up in the 1930 census in Rialto California, but lived in Colorado prior to that. No other siblings, aunts or uncles lived near California.

I don't think they are at all related to your Briggs, but if anything, might be a help to rule out the possibilities if you run across them.
