I am new to researching in Vermont. I have not been to Vermont and have not found too many online resources or books. I am looking for vital and cemetery records for Woodstock. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hi Shaun - welcome to Vermont research. I used to live in the Woodstock area. If you get to Vermont, there is a well stocked historical society in the town along with a courthouse. If you go up to Middlesex, Vermont Vital Records is open to the public and you can search for birth, marriage and death records some of which date back to 1768. If you can't get there in person, check on www.raogk.com (Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) to see if there is a volunteer in the area. I used to volunteer to photograph tombstones and depending on the name you are looking for, I may have some pictures.

Online, be sure to go to the rootsweb message boards and the www.usgenweb.org site. The Vermont Gateway at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vermont/VERMONTGATEWAY.html is a good place to look.

Good Luck!!

Check out Riverstreet Cemetery in woodstock Vermont. they are also on Find a grave.
