Maybe they should allow us LDS transcribers into the next batch of users before it is open to the public as a reward for services rendered!!!!!

I too have been transcribing records for FS, but we always knew it was going to be a rolling program for the release of the records.

I thought it was explained rather nicely why we had to wait. I'm okay with it. I've waited this long. I can wait a little longer. I feel for you and your frustration. You've performed a great service for all of us in transcribing / arbitrating that many names. Thank you!

I downloaded the new Legacy 7.4 and was blocked because I was not a member of the church. After volunteering and transcribing / arbitrating more than 116,000 names does this seem fair

Thanks Ron. That is what I'm going to do (or at least try). I have made a CD now I
just need a "likely suspect" to try the "Beta test ". :-)
Keith I tried that "red PE" bit and had to download another pgm and even then it
didn't make much of a presentation for the results.

I am struggling with where to put a newspaper clipping with no date or name of the newspaper. It is an obituary from the early 1900's. What Source Type do you put it in, newspaper? Artifact?

Then, what do you give it for a Source Name? I have put newspaper: Undated clipping and Newspaper: Unknown.

Then, do you add a new Master Source for each one you have?

I bought this program over a year ago and then life took over so I am just not getting back to entering lots of information. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Lewis, you ask can you copy the free version of Legacy onto a CD. To do this you need to down load the Set-up file form the Legacy website and copy this onto the CD. Full instructions are given in the Help Files - see "Create a CD". A couple of things to watch, the file construction on the host's CD has to be the same as yours, so it is easiest to follow the Legacy Guide lines and store your data in C:\Legacy\Data and the pictures in C:\Legacy\Pictures which will avoid problems due to different Windows user names.

Keith mentioned using Passage Express (PE). If I remember correctly there is a facility there which enables one to link the Legacy set-up to the opening screen. The end user will, of course, have to install the program on their PC as it will not run from a CD, and although I didn't specifically say so the files as well!

To distribute a CD of your work with a viewer only of LEGACY - Click on the red PE icon. If it is not there - right click on the taskbar (at the top) and DRAG the icon up to your taskbar. I have never tried this - but it should work. I think it is called create CD.
