Getting Started!

Welcome and thank you for supporting Most Wanted.

Please post your challenge to the Most Wanted! Discussion Forum
Click here: Post your Most Wanted/Brick Wall/Broken Link Challenge

There seems to be an RSS feed advantage to posting challenges to the Most Wanted "Discussion Forum" rather than on the "Comment Wall." It's also easier to keep responses and attachments organized if a challenge is posted as a Discussion. Twenty challenges appear on this page; click "View All" to browse the collection and to subscribe to the RSS feed.

In addition to the link above, "Post your Most Wanted ... Challenge," you will find a "Start Discussion" button located on this page at the end of the items in the section that follows "Getting Started."

I found some information that might help someone in their
research. On the Rusk County, Texas website, there is information
on a slave owner by the name of Taylor E. Kennard. The title is Kennard Slaves,
Age of slaves are recorded in Papa's Book. Papa was Taylor Elijah Kennard(born in
Picken County, AL) It contains the name of the slaves, birth year and place with death year.
There is a copy of document on the site.
The website address is http://www.txrusk.com/aa/kennard.htm.

Hi all,

My most wanted is my ggg grandmother Maria DOWNTON b.1800, possibly Portsea Hampshire England.
She married Joseph HILL in 1826 Pitney, Somerset England.
There is a Justine/Justina DOWNTON on the wedding entry as a witness to the marriage, but it's unclear as to who she was, either sister or cousin.
They and family moved to South Australia in 1854 onboard the ship "THETIS".
If anyone can help with her parents, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers Sandra

LEE SHORES FURCHT ROWE

These are my brickwalls.

1. Lee, Peter b. 1660 approx in Dartmouth, ME however I believe might be MA as he was married there and at the time he was born town in ME was called Sheepscot. He married Anne Mosher daughter of Hugh Mosher and Rebecca Maxson. Looking for Peter's parents.

2. Shores Samuel b. 1755 Sussex County NJ. He married Polly Stevens in NJ. One son was born in a town called Canoe Brook NJ which is in Sussex County. I found where they resided in Newark area around 1795 before moving to Bradford County Pa. Wife of one son maiden name was Post. The Post family, the Stevens Family as well as Samuels whole family moved to Bradford county around same time. A said cousin of Samuel's a James Shores also moved there. I found reference to a "old Shores Place" being sold to a Chamberlain in late 1790s near Newark. I am looking for parents of Samuel and James and their connections.

3. Furcht Frederick b. Hanover Germany Dec 7th 1824. Immigrated to US arring in New York City June 28th 1846. full name on immigration papers John Audear Frederick Furcht.
Wife was also from Germany name was Louisa (surname unknown). b. 1823. Looking for parents and wifes maiden name.

4. Rowe (unknown) no dates known Vestal Broome County NY. Infant son died at approximately 18 months of age. Parents were Curtis Rowe (might be William Curtis Rowe or Rutledge) as was believed to be adopted. In census in Binghamton as Rowe Curtis, mother was Hazel Mae Shores Rowe. The child as close as I can figure would have been born approx 1932 to 1936. He is buried in a cemetery in Vestal by a methodist the same as my grandmother Emma Eunice Shores. He is said to be across from her. There are graves there marked Rowe but are recent none as old as 1930s. The church was contacted and they didnt have a record of his burial. I am not able to find anything without a name of dates. All family are now deceased so I have no one to ask. I heard cause of death was bad milk. I have tried for years for info on him to no avail.. My mother divorced and later remarried. I wonder if he really died, this is my brother, I would appreciate any help at all in finding
out the truth. I live in Arkansas and unable to do research there

NOT a "Most Wanted" query! Just a general comment on this group. I have been reading a few discussions (from oldest upwards) in order to follow some of the research trails. This is almost a course in how/where to research. I'm not ready to tackle my brick walls yet — I haven't really done enough research to be sure they ARE brick walls. But I'm going to keep studying here, so that I can come with at least SOME information.

Thank you for this site.

My brickwall is my 2nd great grandmother, Josie or Josephine Spann; I'm not sure of her maiden name. I was told her maiden name was Shanklin, but I haven't came across her on the census living with a Shanklin family. She was born about 1880 in Noxubee County,MS. She married Abram Spann, not sure what year. She had three children, a son named Walter Pippins( father unknown), unknown daughter name(died in house fire) and Quantillia Spann( my great grandmother. Is there anyway, to find the maiden name of your ancestors?

Hi Donald-

Please start a discussion for Alice, so we can follow whatever information and clues you may have about her. :) Also for Nelson, it would be more effective to have two seperate discussions for us to follow-
