Are FTM older programs compatible with Vista and Windows 7

You should not have any issues with either, using Version 2006

The rest of the story is I left my disk in Texas for 2006 to load into new laptop and a friend is sending hers to me from MI. It's somewhere in between and if it doesn't get here pretty soon I will have to bite the bullet and buy the 2010 version. I need to have FTM in the laptop that I am taking to Salt Lake City.

Version 2010 is a great up date from Version 2006. At least my opinion. Lots of nice new features. It WILL open your Version 2006 Family File and create a Version 2010 version of that file.

You are welcome.

Just before you Install Version 2010, please open Version 2006 and run this utility from any family page:

CTRL+ALT+C = FileCompression

That will reindex your file and clean it up a bit. After you have done that, close version 2006 and install Version 2010. The installation should find your Version 2006 family file and create a Version 2010 version of the same file. (a new one)
