Hi all-

Thought I'd start a discussion on Pennsylvania Cemeteries. :)
Most of my Fletcher family are in the West Laurel Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and a family on my FIL's side is in the Jersey Shore Cemetery in Lycoming, PA.

Has anyone had any experience finding information on the Jersey Shore Cemetery?
thanks!

Thank you Kate
You have given me some good ideas. My searches have been in PA history of Bangor and findagrave.com

I must confess that I never thought of searching for collateral ancestors. My 3rd G.Grandfather also John Shaum moved to OH in 1813 and I have concentrated on my direct line because I want to register them as pioneer families.
I only have the last names of 2 wives, Miller would be Grandpa Shaum's mother.

Diffidently have some work to do. Thanks again.
Hi,
Maybe someone can help me out. My gg grandfather's gravestone is knocked over and cracked in half in the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster PA . I posted a photo request on "Find a grave" and the photographer who filled the request found it on the ground. It looks like it has been there for a while. He was kind enough to talk to someone he knows at the cemetery to see what could be done about it. He was told that the cemetery does not have enough money in the endowment fund to repair and reset fallen stones. He said it was up to either volunteers or the family. Does anyone know of any volunteer organizations who do this kind of thing? I am across the country so am unable to do anything myself.

Thanks!
Elizabeth
Elizabeth,
Ask the F.A,G. volunteer the name of the person they talked to, then write that person explaining the situation. If you are willing to pay, perhaps they can find someone to do the work for you. Also ask about any Cemetery Preservation organizations in the area that you could contact. If all that fails, search out any genealogy societies in the area and contact them for ideas. Good luck!
