Funeral services for Hazel Warner Cobb, a former state senator, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville. Mrs. Cobb, also a former longtime Kentucky Utilities employee, died Sunday (March 31, 2002) at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was 82. She was elected in January 1962 to fill the 22nd District seat vacancy caused by the death of her husband, Spencer Lamar Cobb. Spencer Lamar Cobb, a Democrat, had been elected senator for Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, and Woodford countiesin November 1961. He had a heart attack and died Jan. 1, 1962, just over three hours after he was sworn into office in his hospital room by Gov. Bert Combs. Mrs. Cobb ran in a special election without formal opposition after receiving the Democratic nomination unanimously from the four counties' party chairmen.

Ambrose Samuel and Rachel Black Cobb buried Goose Creek, Knox Co., Ky.
Ambrose February 14, 1761 - August 31, 1824 is the probable brother of Jessamine County Vintner (Ventner) C. Cobb.

Vinter Cobb is a key player in my Walters line that ties the Walters from Halifax Co VA to Jessamine Co KY. My brother, who is also researching the family tree, has some information on Vinter, including this:

We've also got this quote, but no one seems to know what book it was taken from.

"James Overstreet declares that in his youth, he knew Vintner Cobbs, and lived about a mile from him and his father, in Halifax Co, VA. John Walters lived about three miles from Vintner and said that Vintner was married two times, he was a soldier and spy at the time, and he frequently visited the fort when he was in VA. James Overstreet and John Walters moved to KY with Vintner, in 1790/97/98. Vintner Cobbs died when he was about fifty-eight years old. In 1805, James Overstreet became Guardian of Vintner's sons, Thomas and Ralph Cobbs. In 1806, John Walter became their Guardian."
A link to information that has proven very helpful. I am so glad for RAOK in the genealogy community.
