Hiya Alabama Root Diggers! I've been pulled away this week supporting my Son & his Fiancee through a kidney transplant (http://tinyurl.com/mq6mbu).

What did I miss? Any new family connections and/or discoveries?

What can we do to bring more ALABAMA researchers to GenWise to share! I need more cousins?!:-)

Welcome to all the new Alabama Root Diggers!

Please make sure you are adding your SURNAMES & QUERIES to the applicable COUNTY Discussion thread. This will allow other researchers with common interests to find you easily.

If the County thread for your surnames hasn't been created yet, please feel free to create it!

* If we have researchers willing to volunteer for Courthouse/Archive look-ups please let me know. I am pulling together a list of volunteers to distribute to the Group.

Happy Digging!:-)

Clark and DeKalb Counties
I am researching the Scott, Whiteley, Maynard/Mainard, Jones, and Nichols/Nickols families as I descend from them. My g-g-g-grandfather George W. Whiteley was born in Jackson, Clark, AL in 1829. His parents were Samuel W. Whiteley and Mary Lucy Maynard/Mainard. He married Caroline Jones in 1850 in NW Arkansas.
I am trying to find the names of those who traveled with the Jones and Whiteley families from White/Warren, TN and Clark, AL to NW Arkansas. I am also trying to find more info on the Maynards.
