I am interested in a Moore who lived in Baltimore County, MD or thereabouts in the mid to late 1700's. He died about 1777 leaving a wife, Susanna and a daughter, Elizabeth (b. 1777). I am trying to find out if his wife, Susanna, is Susanna Dornbach/Turnpaugh of Baltimore.
Just saw your answer here. I don't know why GW didn't notify me by EM. Anyway, I decided per advice of someone that it's not a good idea to store your pictures on C: under Legacy. The issue I have is I am always moving things around on my computer for various reasons so I set up a folder just for Legacy under Documents. Then you can go into Legacy and direct it to find your pictures (under Options) in the that folder as long as you don't intend to move it. Essentially, I am making copies of everything and leaving the originals where they were.
Another reason I do that is I am in the process of writing more books and prefer keeping things separate, if that makes any sense to you. Of course another thing you have to be sure of is that you have plenty of space on your computer to have a lot of files like that.
I have a lot of photos and graphics along with other records on people so I have several folders set up for different families and make sub-folders (sub-directories) within those for individuals. If I don't have too much information on one person than I might just set up a general folder by surname. I don't work that much with Legacy anyway and keep my main family trees on Ancestry.com. I have both Legacy and Family Tree Maker and the new Version 11 is excellent as you can download your whole tree, including graphics. I use Legacy mainly to back up my files and I like some of the reports and do use some graphics and photos that I have set up in the folders as previously mentioned. At least the folder idea is how I do it; otherwise, it gets totally unmanageable as you say by dumping it all into one subdirectory. Others may have more ideas on the subject but that's my input.
