For what reason did you start genealogy research?

One day I just googled my name and found myself in a family tree. Also, interested in how history relates to my family history. In addition to creating family trees on each family branch, I would like to make a timeline to show my family member's place in history. For instance, my mother was born the day of the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre.
