No, if someone said that, it wasn't me! Although I live in Lincoln Park, I don't know Sean Canning and never went to school with anyone named Canning. I didn't grow up in Lincoln Park, although I've lived there for 10 years. I grew up in Wyckoff, NJ.

You're right, it is a small world!

It was nice meeting you too! I didn't go to school with anyone in the chat room; I just mentioned that I had gone to Montclair State, since it came up in chat. And I'm not sure who Sean is; there are a lot of people in chat sometimes and I don't know everyone, and it can get confusing to try to follow things sometimes. Sorry!

Thanks for the info, Ellen. I haven't seen that book yet, I'll have to add it to my list. I'm waaaay over on the left coast (Oregon), so most of my research is by internet or Interlibrary Loan.

Thanks for the welcome, Ellen. I'd love to come but I live outside of NJ and rarely get there, except once in awhile for research. If I can, I'll come to a meeting.

Ellen-I'm back tomorrow. I ultimately decided to join since I discovered this was a relaunching of an older service I signed up for (but never really used). We'll see if I end up having any time for it!

Hi Ellen -- Sorry to say that I have nothing on your McPeeks. Our particular line can be traced back to about 1756 in New Jersey. No luck on McFadden either. My James McFadden came from Ireland, but I have not been able to find a passenger list. He lived in Newark from immigration until death in 1930. He was hit by a bus. We know of none of his relatives. I find anything on McPeek/Martin, I will let you know.

Ellen -- I might be able to help some on the McPeek line. I co-authored a book on the McPeeks about 16 years ago and althought I haven't done much on the line of late, I still have connections that might be helpful. I also have an ancestor James McFadden from Newark, Essex, New Jersey. Don't know anything of his ancestors, though. Patrice
