Christine,

Greetings. Thank you for your reply. I would love to connect with Brenda. If you could forward my contact information to her, I would greatly appreciate it. I would also enjoy remaining in contact with you, as well.

Best wishes from a very cold Denver.

Judith - I have been looking up Edward in the book "COLBOURNE, COLBORNE Ancestry through the centuries" which was compiled by one of our members, Brenda Sherwood, There are a few references - sailed to America in 1635 age 17 - marriage in 1640, death in 1712. The book lists other Edwards born around the year 1618 but I think you need to talk to Brenda who did all the research and hear what her thoughts are. I have alerted her to your enquiry so am hoping she gets in touch soon. Brenda has published two books (large) full of records of Colbournes of various spellings. She is a cousin of mine and we are descended from the Lacock in Wiltshire Colbournes. They were cloth merchants back in the 1500s but as far as I know none of them emigrated. I,m sure Brnda would be very interested in any gaps you can fill!

Christine, thank you so much for your very fast response! I don't know if I can be of any assistance to you regarding the Colborne/Colburn history, but I am more than happy to provide any information subsequent to Edward's arrival in the New World that anyone may desire. I have worked on the genealogy for over 30 years and have collected some interesting items; I have also been able to travel to the different locales of this ancestral line. One interesting item that I have is an actual piece of a timber from a garrison that Edward built in Dracut,MA.

My challenge over all of these years has been Edward's point of origin. I have scoured Visitations for the area and have not been successful. Even if I travel to the UK, I am not sure I would find what I am searching for. Christine, thank you, again, for your very kind response and please let me know if I can share anything with you, as well.
Best regards from a grateful cousin.

I have set up a Group for Wiltshire Ancestors - would you add a link to it on your COLBOURNE group and I will do likewise to the new group.
Margaret
