Nancy,

I am sorry for your loss.  I have lost some loved ones recently too and my mom is a recent widow.  Take your time, surround yourself with people that care about you and let yourself grieve.  Those roller coaster emotions may pop up every once in a while. I will keep you in my prayers.  No rush on any Genealogy stuff.. it can wait. Writing a journal can help in your grieving process and talking about your feelings with loved ones helps too. Take good care.

Hi Nancy,

I remember reading somewhere...maybe it was the history of Manlius, Onondaga County, New York that the name was originally spelled Kuehn.  I will look through my info and see if I can figure out where I saw it.  I just finished a 23 page research report on Hiram Coon b. 1832 (Manlius, Onondaga, New York d. 1875 Palmyra, Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Hi Nancy,

I could not post my oldest Coon ancestor on the comment space so please look at my blog on Genealolgy Wise to see it. The post is a timeline for Ephriam Coon with partial dates for his children. I am descended from Hiram Coon's Daughter Ada Coon who married Francis Darling Riddell.

Nancy, Were your Kuehns located in New York or Wisconsin? I have Coon ancestors that were from Manlius, Onondaga, New York and then in Wisconsin, in the Palmyra, Jefferson County, Wisconsin.

Nancy, I also have three ancestors that worked for Chicago Northwestern: Christian DeYoung (1890), Phillip Dahlberg and Gustav Dahlberg. I will keep my eyes out for Claydon Dick Herbert if you keep your eyes out for my three guys in Railroad records.
Have you tried looking in newspaper collections for the obit?
