My friends McDermids are:

Mary b. 1857 Clarence Town, NSW
Jessie b. 1859 Clarence Town, NSW
Flora b. 1861 Clarence Town, NSW

Parents:

Ewan McDermid b. 1827 Ardnamurchan, Argyle
Janet McPhee, b. 1827

Apparently this is close to the Herbrides.

IF you have a connection she'd love to hear from you.

Cheers,
Michelle

Thank you for the information. I asked for a look up but I got a message saying they had no volunteers to look up in the Illwarra Mercury. Thank you again because I can now look for other relatives

It's quite a small place now but so many people have a connection to Dungog it's amazing! I notice that you have a McDermid connection, are they from Dungog/Taree/Manning areas?

Thanks for the info on John Bertram Chatfield. He doesn't appear to link into my line, but his father came from a town where many of my lot came from. Sorry I was late in replying.

PS. I knew a family who live in NSW Australia, in a place name Rutherford, who's surname is Purvis, Robert & Cathy Purvis. I don't know if that is a lead for you or not but you never know. They came from Sydney somewhere I think, its been a long time since I have seen them.

The Surnames I am looking for are:
Von Senden, Lorenzen / Thompson, Brelih, Hann, Milner, Lentell, Holtorf, Williams, Quanchie, Stella, Barber, Curnuck, Baldwin, Pickering, Ashworth,
PLus a name unknown of a German Opera singer who had twins sons in 1879 one of which was my Grandfather. They were left on the doorstep of the home belonging to the Hann Family in Buckingham Shire England..
There are more surnames but I am not home at present to check but will as soon as I get a chance.

Countries: Germany, Denmark, Isle of Mann, England, Australia, New Zealand, Wales, Spain, Italy.

Beginner's Level even after years of stop and start researching.

Reason: Well, its fascinating, it gives me a better knowledge & understanding of my family from the past & now. History and people have always interested me. Yes totally agree its fun!

Genealogy Website or Blog: No I don't have one, but would be very interested in creating one.

Thank you. As soon as I saw the location of 'Cockpen', I knew I had not included this branch in the Douglas Archives.

Again, thank you for the pointer.

Yours aye,

William
PS I like the blog feed in your website - must give some though to that!

Geniaus, I do not think so, However, I am collecting all Shorten's in Australia in one data base. I have 4 seperate Shorten families coming into Victoria, two from Ireland and two from England. Still trying to make connections. The Shorten's in Ireland came from York England around 1520, so there may be connection way back. I have not started on NSW Shorten just yet.

Hello Distant Cousin Geniaus.
Thank you for inviting me to join this list.
I descend from the marriage of Benjamin Joseph Cummins and Ivy Pearl Longhurst. They had 15 children, 6 of whom are still alive. My mother, who is 91, was their 5th child.
Thank you for allowing me to look at your family tree. I am also very interested in my paternal grandmother's McCall line of the family at the moment and live in hope that there may be another cousin or two out there somewhere who might be researching the same line .
Best wishes, Tricia

Thank you for you invite to join you, however, I have thoroughly research all connections to my family history in Australia, consequently I am concentrating my research in Devon and Cornwall, and in particular the involvement of my ancestors as ship owners and Merchants in Cod Fishing Industry of Newfoundland.

Thanks Geniaus. Have joined the group and looking forward to sharing collective knowledge of members. My main Australian interests are the Schubach and Collins families of the NSW South Coast, and the Darke, Cowley, Nicholls and Foster families in country SA.
