I think we need to compare our group sheet information through email before we post to this site. Gayle

Hi Tina,

I really don't know much about my Williams genealogy, except that James Pinkey Williams was born in Georgia (don't know anything about the Pinkey names, except that it seems there were variations of the name through the extended family). In 1850 he was living in Graves Co., KY with his wife Mary Katherine Bradford Williams who was born in TN. My great-great grandmother (the one I always heard was a 6' 2" Cherokee woman) Tabitha Jane Williams was born in 1855 in Fayetteville, Washington County, KY. Then in 1860 they were living in Weakley Co., TN. By 1870 James aand Mary were living in Independence Co., AR where they lived out the rest of their lives. They were living in all the places where the Cherokee were from and where many of them moved. But I've not been able to prove that they were Indian yet. I know that a lot of the Cherokees tried to assimilate into white culture to avoid persecution. But that's about all I know to this point.
