Jim, I have no way of knowing--all I know is that Mary Byrne was my GGGGrandmo, and she presumably came from Borris, Carlow or one of the surrounding parishes. There were a lot of Byrnes in the area, and I have no way of knowing which ones were related. I do know that Mary died before 1846.

Sorry, and good luck with your search. If you come up with any leads for a Byrne related to a Quinn, let me know.

Hi Jim! I have a copy of my 5th great-grandmother Catherine Stagner's will (16 June 1779, proven 23 May 1791) from York Co, PA. The executor was Christopher Wohlfawrt. One of her daughters was Mary Stagner who was married to Stofel Wohlfaurt. Her granddaughter is listed as Catherine Wohlfaurt. I know that in many cases the Wohlfaurt name changed to Wolhford/Wolford. Are these any relations to you?

Thanks for the comment! My Avery folks are from Groton, CT. My ancestors are mostly from CT, MA and RI. My immigrant grandparents on my dad's side came from Scotland.

Hi Jim: It was a very nice gesture from you to in stead of only advising on my problem , you took time to find new information to me, witch I appreciate very much - you really made my day.Thank you !
I feel now in some way at home in the group, but still wonder if I'm able to contribute anything to the group.

I should may be have look for myself at Ancestry's site - I even have sign in on it a few times way back, never got the necessary routine and have given up, when it came to searching the lot of archives there.
There is only one other immigrant family to US left, even one with my surname SCHLICHTKRULL and connected to my Danish branch of an otherwise old German family, witch I haven't been able to throw further light on, mainly starting up in Pennsylvania and partly using WILLIAMS as a much easier surname than Schlichtkrull.
Do you think that Acestry is the place to cope with that problem - I gather, that when it comes to those with such a common name as Williams, I'll get lost in the census archives, when I have learned to work with that possibility? . .
Do you think, that I have to go somewhere else in Genealogy Wise with such further problems?

Sorry - as far as I know, my Avery ancestors were always found in the Dedham, Massachusetts area. They're not a well-documented bunch for me at the moment, though, so it's still a possibility.

That explains part of my confusion and your forgivable mistake. It leave me with doubt, still, if I'v put my question forward to the right forum - is the Golden Gate name relevant anymore - as it is not the bridge what then?
Please advice me on the best place at Genealogi Wise for my erand !

Hello Jim Avery
I wonder if I've come to the right place at all, but to me Golden Gate is a monumental bridge by San Francisco CA ?
My grandmothers brother Herman Kugler, a young engineer from Denmmark, which family name was changed when he settled in Oakland, California to COOLEY working with the project building that famous bridge, He got married 1875 aged 29 a French immigrant Amelia VERRUE with whom he had 3 children.
I need to know much more about that family and what became of there children!
There are no indications in the comments I have read here that the bridge is
related to, what I thought should be the subject for the group. Have I missed something?.
I'm not really a chating type - do I need to go to a chatroom with my errand? Or somewhere else?

The Wolfords I have are from Germany originally, but moved to PA. Reyless Wolford was in the 14th PA Cavalry, Company C in the Civil War. I was descended from his daughter, I have a cousin that is in AK, descended from one of his sons. I hope we can help each other!
