I guess I just needed to post my vent in order to find my missing Mathieu. He was born July 4 1807 to the parents I suspected him with. I am just so happy ya'll don't know!

Hi Debbie,
I find there are no "correct "name spellings, in the early days word were written down as they "sounded" to the holder of the pen / quill !! I have even found the surname of one chap spelt four different ways in the same document. So always look for other ways to spell the same name, Take into account the different dialects, and perhaps the speaker had a cold or a lisp!!
