Update to "What Do You Do ?"
This is an update to an earlier post "What Do You Do ?" where I talked about finding a gedcom online and not knowing the resources or who posted it. Well I contacted the "poster" and got a reply,but he didn't exactly elaborate on his sources or the work overall. The answer's I was looking for sort of went "unanswered". Kind of makes me suspicious but hey,genealogy is a constant work in progress and I informed the person that if I discover mistakes I would let them know and they could make adjustments or whatever so that's fine. I was really hoping for well defined answer's to my question's and was looking forward to hearing about the research but that never happened,perhaps the person was suspicious of me,who knows. I think we are all well acquainted with the "spam" (or what I would call something else) that floods our inbox from time to time asking for personal information so it makes a person leary of handing out to much to someone you don't know,thats understandable.But anyway the fun continues......................

I faced the same thing. I have been searching for my 3rd great grandfather's parents & family for year. My mother never really knew her father's family so she had very little to go on. Several months ago I found an online file that listed his parents, siblings and more information, but no sources. He even had my mother's name! I contacted him, no response. I contacted again, no response. So again a few weeks ago I contacted yet a thrid time. still no repsonse. But this time was a bit different as when I again searched for his name a second file came up, so I contacted this person. I did get a response only she was unable to tell me anything about this information, seems the file is a coordinated effort and she did not know where it came from and was not willing to tell me much more. I am so frustrated. To both people I gave my specific information and even told them that one of the descendants was my mother, but that did not seem to matter.
